The creators of the show stated that in Season 3, bad characters will turn good and good characters will turn bad. We saw how Ratchet scolded Optimus for chosing to put the kids' wellbeing above that of Cybertron.

So I am wondering. Will Ratchet join the Decepticons in Season 3, even if briefly. It's not like any of the Autobots could know since he will be alone on his own when the Cons find him or he finds the Cons. The show creators did say that we haven't seen the last of the Synthetic Energon. Could Ratchet play a part in helping the Cons make the Synthetic Energon formula?

As I saw in the "War for Cybertron", Optimus has already killed it once.

Might be, some random Autobots will join the Cons after the truth of Prime killing the planet is spread.

 

I just see him being himself, but not with Team Prime.

Some think Ratchet wasn't right by what he said, but the truth is that way of thinking would be the same for non Earth Autobots. I really see Ratchet being the first of many that would feel betrayed over Prime's actions and just switch sides. It does not mean they are evil, it just means they feel the cause they were fighting for is no longer the same as it was before.

You're suggesting that one of the original members of Team Prime is going to become evil, forever changing the dynamic of the Autobots.

You do know why this show is called "Transformers: Status Quo", right? The writers literally could not bring themselves to actually kill off the ONE character they could have killed off (Optimus is important for some reason, Ratchet is the best Autobot of them all, Bumblebee because Hasbro, and Arcee because of angst issues that get reset every season which gives the show "DRAMA!") and replace him with a waiting replacement who was a far more interesting character. They couldn't even make Team Prime on its own actually DO what was required, hence Smokescreen doing the most work of them all so everybody else can remain the exact same.

Firstly Ratchet may not join the Decepticons and if so there needs to be a good reason for it. He may be furious and upset at Optimus but not to the point where he turns into a Decepticon. If anything he'll just quit being a member of Team Prime and be a rouge for at least a while because he felt that the Autobot cause lost all meaning to him.

And again we don't know that any of the original Autobots will live in season 3 and beyond. For all we know any of them can actually die.

Bumblebee you're right on but the rest I can't say because Optimus may be dead for all we know. As for Arcee I'd normally say that she hasn't been reset but that'll be going off topic and I already made my opinion known.

And does the destroyed base really say that's keeping a status Quo to you?.

 

I would love to see Ratchet join the Decepticons, not because he is evil, but because he feels, with Optimus having 'betrayed' the Autobots and resentful of humanity, that Megatron is honestly his last hope in reviving the home he misses so much. So, he could tell Megs about how the Forge is in the base; they can dig it out of the rubble, and in exchange for returning the Forge which could fix the Omega Lock, Ratchet agrees to serve Megatron in order to see his planet rebuilt.

I would like to see how Ratchet could build on his disappointment and unhappiness over the loss of Cybertron's rebirth.

 

I'd love for Ratchet to start up a third faction, like a better Jhiaxus. New Cybertronians or something, and they just kick the crap out of the OP and Megatron for being douches.

Nope, Ratchet seems the last Autobot to ever turn sides, ever. I think he'll be pissed a bit and take the time he has with himself to show us, the viewers, just how troubled he is by all that has happened. He might even opt to help otheres he might not have before (like Starscream), but I can't see him going BAD.

Funny note: The writers said we haven't seen the last of SynthEN, so it'd be funny if Knock Out injects Ratchet with it and that causes the Ratchet that questions Prime to come back =P and then he really does join the Cons because they handled things successfully...calling it now if it does happen!

 

He could side with the Cons in order to revive Cybertron but I think if he learns that the Decepticons really don't want to bring Cybertron back at all Ratchet would defect.

 

I doubt it. At most I can see him "storming off in anger" for an episode or two, contemplating what to do about the situation, but then eventually reuniting with Team Prime like nothing has changed. Would it be cool to see a Decepti-Ratchet? Sure. Will it happen? More than likely, no. Would it be cool to see a solo-Ratchet? Not with Team Prime but not a Decepticon? Sure. Will it happen? Meh, it might (please see above idea).

This answer would work for the cynic (read: realist) in me.  

 

i can see ratchet turning con. its so obvious. i can see him getting captured and when being brought before megatron, he plees with him to join the decepticons. megatron being intrigued may question him, as this megatron is clearly more, intelectual than others, and another medic on the team, not to mention someone who'd have all the autobots secrets, itd be a worth while risk. and i think once ratchet explains that he'd follow optimus no matter what but after he put the lives of 3 insignifigant humans, ALIENS, over the restoration of their homeworld, he'd rather be a con if it meant restoring cybertron.
