I could see Shockwave arriving and finding Megatron still recovering from his injuries and trashing him while he's not up to full strength. Then while Shockwave takes command and turns his attention to Earth Starscream pretends to be a good soldier while secretly helping Megatron recover to go back up against Shockwave, all the while plotting to do away with both of them and finally control the Decepticons himself. Maybe while repairing Megatron Starscream installs a bomb in him, hoping to blow him up while Megs and Shockwave grudge match and destroy them both in one go.

this so called chicago town baffles me, why almost do a remake of the final battle in the first movie where it ends in the first movie. so instead of megatron we will have shockwave die in the city, and why kill megatron off early in the third movie when he is fully rebuilt we want too see what he can do, you think when he is rebuilt he is bigger stronger than ever so lets see what he can do. Maybe megatron will be used just like the first where he appears in the last half hour of the movie, because for me we have yet too see a proper megatron vs prime fight where both have their moments beating each other up, not a one sided fight.

and isnt the movie going to be 2 years after ROTF, so you would think by then megatron is rebuilt.

I know bay likes introducing new decepticons like the terribly missused the fallen who was built has the main villian in ROTF, and now shockwave who has far more meat behind him than the fallen, but megatron should be the main villian. He is the leader of the deceptions if he is played second fiddle again it will sum up how badly bay has used not only the decepticons, but transformers in general and how very phew of the good side dies in quiet a violent war.

All i got to say is Megatron is the ultimate leader the movie made no sense by having him be a lackey, Megatron is no lackey

let's see Megatron defeated Prime in the forest but the fallen could not defeat him, so who's the biznatch now? Do it better this time Bay

This thread is full of typos... I read through all three pages and now my head hurts... lol

I'm guessing that by this point in the movie, Megatron is dead... I highly doubt dead as in blown to smithereens, but maybe dead as in an ambiguous way where if they were to continue the franchise with a new director, he could be brought back...

in transformers and ROTF megatron never gets much screen time, in the city fight he turns up about say 10 minutes of the sequence. and in the final battle of ROTF he still is not fighting much more like watching, so he could very much be in the final fight of transformers with prime but he only turns up in the final battle to face prime, because I am having a hard time believing bay would allow the fans to be shown the climax of transformers. We have seen bay trying to lie to everyone has a way to distract them on what is the final battle.

who would ever forget the lie bay told that megatron will not be returning in ROTF and look what happened there

I hope Shockwave DOES put Megs in his place, and we see it play out like the Marvel Comics...

well too be fair not only is ROTF a rushed mess, but megatron himself in ROTF is so unbalanced its a joke. He has one proper arm and one almost uselss arm when it comes too battle, while prime is attacking decepticons with 2 deadly weapons on both arms and shooting them at the same time.

when you see megatron in transformers, he is man handling prime with his bear hands, like throwing prime like a rag doll, megatron never relies on one weapon like he does in ROTF, megatron uses a multiple of moves and weapons in T1, and what makes megatron in the first movie better is he is more mobile and less bulky, he was huge in T1 but he was so quick on his feet making him better than ROTF class megatron so when he is fighting prime in T1 megatron is using a multiple of attacks with both arms, while megatron in ROTF has got way too much going on too handle and he is slow and clumsey and inefective, look how many times he uses his huge gun? nearly 80% of his attacks is from his one arm and prime found it easy to dodge megatrons slow attacks.

Suffice it to say that completely discarding Megatron would be a near incomprehensible mistake. He was very deliberately left alive at the end of ROTF, one of the few sound decisions they made. The only way that would make sense at all is if they were already planning another sequel, which they aren't.

I believe TF3 must have a final battle between Optimus and Megatron. They are the pivotal characters, the iconic embodiments of their respective battling factions. I think too much has been made of Shockwave's inclusion, and personally I wouldn't be surprised if he has some sort of a seconds-in-command showdown against someone like Ultra Magnus.

Maybe its a situation like with Starscream in the past two films where he stayling on the sidelines for most of the climax? Let the Autobots and NEST deal with Shockwave before he makes his move.

My thoughts- Act 1, Megatron will be betrayed by Starscream (but not killed). Starscream returns to Cybertron to assume control over the Decepticons and is ousted by Shockwave, reassuming his role as second-in-command (though with an air of just biding his time). They go to Earth to destroy the Autobots and the insects once and for all. Act 2 ends in a terrible defeat for the Autobots and humans. In their desperation to surive, the Autobots join forces with Megatron, Soundwave (who, of course, went to recover his fallen master) and their Nascar bots (assuming they are Cons). Prime kills Shockwave and Megatron kills Starscream. Megatron and Soundwave live and take the Decepticons back to Cybertron, vowing never to wage war on Earth again. The Autobots remain on Earth in peace, accepted at last.

This is just a random guess.

i find it amusing when people get this far into guessing the plot of a movie in the middle of production. no offense to you, just funny.

We've only seen heads on a stick of Shockwave, Soundwave, & BB right? Of course we know the final battle in Chicago will have other bots. I don't think the Autobots will stay in vehicle mode the whole time.

How is this theory? The heads on a stick might not always represent the bot whose head is there. Those sticks are general height measures for actors to look at. Shockwave, BB & SW are different heights so their poles are different lengths. For any bot Shockwave's height, they use Shockwaves. So for Prime, Megatron & Shockwave, they use that head. For bots BB's size, the BB head pic is used even if Sideswipe is the character in final shot. The actors don't need to see the exact final head, they just need something to know where to look.

No offense taken. This sort of thing is a creative exercise for me and I'm sure I'm wrong. I take what little information I have and create some sort of plot line or story around it. It helps me work through/prevent writer's block.

Other such exercises is working out new adaptations of properties that haven't been done on the silver screen (I was rather proud of my Sonic the Hedgehog concept actually) or rebooting franchises that need a fresh set of eyes (Godzilla, for example). It was great to do when I was working as a cashier earlier in the morning with no one around.

1-Why not? In that scenario, Megatron would be powerless and pitiful. Certainly he would see the profit of joining forces with his former enemies to get revenge on his usurper and regain control of his army.

2-How do you know that? Shockwave hasn't appeared in the movies yet, we don't know what the dynamics of that relationship would be. Don't assume G1.

And again, see above, it was just my own thoughts, not a guess at the plot.
