Will legends companies ever share the same scale?

    Fans of legends figures are growing, yet it seems difficult to make a cohesive collection considering the different sizes. I feel this isn't as much an issue with other 3P sizes. Do you think they'll ever share one scale in the future?

    I realize most of the fandom is choosing based on style. Personally I'm a big IF fan, but some figures I'd love to get either because they look really good in their own style or because the style isn't far off (for me I find the pics of MS' constructicons and perceptor look pretty good), but there's a good chance they just won't fit.

    Thoughts?

    Masterpiece companies follow Takara's example and make their figures to scale well with official MPs. At least that's my theory since the figures always seemed to be sized to work with MP10 and MP36.

    Legends though? They're just winging it.

    Yeah, that cat is out of the box. Why would IF suddenly make their figs bigger to match MFT? And vice versa?

    At least IF and Magic Square seem to fit pretty well. I am only going to stick with them from now on.

    Another solution is to play around with how you feel scale works. In the new comic line, Astrotrain is HUGE compared to other bots. That makes the MFT Astrotrain work better with the other lines.

    If and Magic square are similar, and occasionally you can fit various New Age ones as well. I even have some MFT's. Sometimes you just get what you can till something better comes along.

    I'd be shocked if they ever moved towards matching sizes. Every one of those companies wants you to buy the full line up just from them. It isn't the most fan friendly approach, but it is "honest" (not the best word here, but I'm failing to come up with the right one) in business terms.

    @Curium Exactly.

    As long as every company that makes Legends continues using their own scale and/or own design esthetics, you can't mix. And thus those companies are assured of more sales. It's simply good business.

    Legends = Hasbro Legends/Core scale
    Legends+ = Hasbro old Scout and Basics scale
    Legends- = Hasbro old Legends, TFP/DOTM Cyberberse, Legion scale.

    It's all Hasbro to blame again...

    You can still mix and match some NA and MS stuff. Their leaders are the same height. But on top of the scale differences you have different aesthetics. MS is matte plastic with sparse paint apps (except for the metallic versions), NA is a little more stylized, glossy plastic, tons of paint apps. IF is of course more IDW.

    But for me whatevs, I love all 3, they’re making awesome stuff.

    There can only be one true scale.

    If any of the Legends scaled companies become so dominate that no one would buy an alternative scale then you would see other third party companies put out figures to fit that scale. Basically the reason Takara dictated the scale third party followed. Though for me each company pretty much puts out figures in my preferred scale. So I get to mix and match.

    Yeah, MP 3p companies have to match Takara. When 3p legends first started they seemed to matched Thrilling 30 legends that were meant to work with Metroplex.

    IF moved away from their original scale starting with Shockwave.

    I don't mind the big three (Magic Square, Iron Factory and NewAge) having their own scales as long as they remain consistent with their own figures. Companies are releasing so many figures now they don't really need to scale with their competitors.

    New comers like Zeta and Cang should match their scales to another big 3p legends company though. Unless they intend to ramp up their legends production.
