    That's a load of BS. In many cases, Hasbro actually preceded Takara's announcement of some releases, and many Alternators beat Binaltechs to market (and they didn't even share THAT much of a same market: Alternators were $20 and plastic to BT's $50+ and die-cast, and issues with paint scratching because of that)
    All said and done, Hasbro actually produced MORE Alternators than Takara did of Binaltech, and again the price difference did NOT make the two competing for the same dollars the way the reissues did (where the US versions cost as much as the Japanese releases, but were often modified for modern safety laws)

    Alternators ended due to lackluster sales (the entire line had a horrendous history of shelfwarmers, from multiple assortments at that. The "kids not gravitating to them" may have been an issue as well) combined with high development costs and licensing costs. It did NOT end because a few hundred collectors opted to spend an extra $30 to get Binaltech.
