I'm okay with human actors in these movies but I never liked the idea of them intervening during a final battle. Transformers 2 and 3 final battles is what I want to see in TF5. What are the chances next time around?
In some battles they are interesting because of the perspective that we can have of the fight but I personally would prefer to have a full robot vs robot final fight
I'd personally rather have humans not single handedly be the only deciding factor in why the bad guys in any sequel film actually acomplish anything because they threatened the human populace nicely and humanity stupidly believed the Decepticons wouldn't go back on their word three times in a row.
I'm ok with humans being involved in battle scenes, even (to a point) being a deciding factor. But they need to exo suited up or something. Cade successfully parrying Lockdowns attack was silly.
I actually thought age of extinction handled the final battle quite well, Cade was helping but wasn't the main fighting force like in Dotm and Rotf, those two felt like humans vs deceptions with autobot help. Which is one of the reasons AOE is my personal favorite transformers film. I think based off the promotional stuff so far we can expect a huge human involvement in the final battle, I just hope they don't do it like DOTM which although awesome followed the humans way too much in the final battle leaving awesome bots like the wreckers, sideswipe, ratchet, and Miragedinowhatsmyname to be only seen in the background.
But look at this, ok Lockdown might not be able to break the weapon anymore than you or I could snap an M16. But can Cade, even equipped with Marky Mark's biceps, really bench press a 20ft cybertronian? Cade being in the final battle made sense, he had a weapon he knew could hurt lockdown, and knew Prime was gonna have trouble handling him, but I can only suspend my disbelief so far!
I don't want humans in the big fight to wrap up the movie, but it's been part of these movies so many times that you just about expect something to say that humans are the most powerful force in the universe. I think there are a lot of things that human characters and even extras can bring to a Transformers movie but after so many times of nothing can stop the human spirit from crushing everything it goes against from so many other films you kind of want to see the Autobots save the day on their own. Something like the dynamic between Jimmy Olsen and Superman would be nice, Jimmy is a good character that adds something to the comic books and cartoons but when someone like Darkseid shows up you don't expect Jimmy to knock out Darkseid, that's a job for Superman.
Yea that part bugs me. I think what's actually happening is Lockdown sort of missed and that piece that's hitting Cade's weapon is just being deflected, however from the angle of the shot it looks like he's simply stopping Lockdown with pure strength which makes it look so stupid.
I never got the sense he was bench pressing anything. Lockdown can only drive his weapon so far into the ground, at always seems like Cade is using his sword to keep the blades from clamping down on him.
Also in AOE the part where the Autobots break into the KSI building was AWESOME for how short it was, it had dinamic between the robots and strategy, it would be nice to see more fight strategy in the Autobot team without human interference.
Actually you're right there, i just watched the scene, Lockdown takes several swings and stabs at cade but only two connect. The second, which is that screen shot, does see him making contact with the ground which saves Cade. But the first though, is definitely a parry! You could argue that the swing would have missed cade anyway, as Lockdown is taking it from all angles at that point and is not very focused. But Cade still manages to stand up to Lockdown and survive at least 10 close range attacks while landing shots onto him. Well, respect to Cade, but it does seem a bit of a stretch and y'know, i'd just sooner we didn't see regular unenhanced humans involved in direct melee combat with elite full sized cybertronian killers! kay?
if we're talking about actual final battles i would say the chances are 50/50; 2 & 3 were more transformer vs transformer(s) where as 1 & 4 had humans more directly involved...the best battle was optimus vs. sentinel with no humans involved (relatively speaking of course); so im all for no humans being there... just hope they don't have cade kill barricade because they both have 'cade' in their name...im still traumatized at what the humans did to the decepticons in dotm
