    Nintendo is just stalling.

So the Sony Ninja's and Microsoft Ops can -take care- of these people.;)

Sadly.. The Nintendo Love Hotel employees are quiet useless in this case.

HA! Jokes on them. Banning the Wavebird and GC pads when basically every single person who had a Gamecube already have the fuckin' things...

Banning the Classic controller is the issue. Banning the wavebird and GC controllers is more precautionary in case they choose to release those in the Classic controller's place.

Also the royalties apply to any Wavebirds and GC controllers sold anyway.

This makes no sense. According to the article the patent is based on motion detection which isn't a feature of the classic controller. It's just buttons and sticks that we've seen since the N64.

i'm confused as to how any of the controllers for any current consoles "cover six types of motion simultaneously"...

"Anascape's lawyer had said the company was eager to enter the gaming peripheral market but felt Nintendo had completely "clogged the channel". "

ummm, what? 2 all but obsolete controllers and a controller extention that really doesn't sell that well....

I don't see anything in those controllers even remotely innovative enough to be patent worthy. Analog sticks had been around for a generation...d-pads since the Intellivision...the general shape of the classic has been from the late NES / early SNES days (Cube and Wavebird are just progessions of the 64 controller) and, um....buttons have been with us since PONG :p

"Wherefore art thou?" means "why are you?", not "where are you?".

Wherefore art thou Romeo? -> Why is your name Romeo? -> Of all the families in the world, why do you have to be from that one, Romeo?

    ...is what she's saying.

    ..ahem.

Anyway, lawsuits like this chafe my taint. Does nothing but impede progress.

Is it just me, or does those patent infringements sound like stuff that's been around for ages?

Which is fucking absurd. They'd need to talk to Madcatz, InterAct, and Pellican. Anascape doesn't want to enter jack, except for some bigger companies' bank vaults.

This is Nintendo we're talking about. They're way too stubborn to do that. If they lose, they'll more likely re-engineer their controllers in such a way as to avoid the patent.

That, or they'll stop offering classic controllers entirely, publicly say "thank Anascape for that" and sit back while their rabid fans proceed to blow Anascape to oblivion with warp pipe shaped pipe bombs. ;)
