I think this may sort of qualify, but the constantly differing ways of pronouncing "Cheetor" in Beast Wars. Sometimes they placed heavy emphasis on the "-OR" at the end of his name, while other times - gosh, I can still recall this from 15 years ago - Cheetor would say his name "Cheater"/"Cheeter". "Cheeter". "-ER". "Cheeter, maximize!" I know it's not really that big of a deal (and even as a youngster it's not like I got confused at the mispronunciation), but it always stuck out to me.

It would really make more sense if it was.

"Fistitron." Boy was I bummed when I found out it was the less-than-intimidating just-one-T "Fisitron."

    And of course there's Unicorn.

My entire childhood I thought Monsterbot Grotusque was just named "Grotesque"

-ZacWilliam didn't learn different till the Internet fandom came along as an adult.

"Yo man I loved transformers when I was a kid. I had that Soundtape one, and he was like a foot and a half tall and made entirely out of metal. And he had these tapes, like Chestdog and Laserbird, and they really played music when you put them into him..."

Back when I was younger with Beast Wars, I heard my brother talking about this character called "Wheelie". This was before I had seen anything of G1. I thought the character name would of been seen as "Really" at the time.

I remember seeing the TV commercial for Thrust and Dirge before seeing the characters in the show. I thought the announcer was saying their names were "Rust" and "Dirt." And I thought those were pretty stupid names.

I (and probably others) assumed "Arcee" was actually initials until I had seen it written.

I was never sure if it was Alita One or Elita 1 or what as a kid.

-ZacWilliam, also I tended to spell Spike's wife's name as "Carlie"
