tf2 was obliterated by the writer's strike--very human heavy--OP was also dead for a majority of this film
tf3 had an extraordinary amount of politics surrounding it--this one hurts--this one shoulda been the best
tf4 had so little to work with after the decepticon apocalypse that it essentially was a soft reboot--this film accomplished allot however & set up film 5 nicely

this time around...all the pieces seem to be in place for a good tf film again..im cautiously optimistic however; for when i see a character like sqweeks i cant help but get nervous..im also not the biggest fan of hound, crosshairs, & drift

one of my bigger concerns however is with the new writers comes a chance character's established personalities will change..much like what happened to starscream & optimus prime after tf1

i dont want this to be 'cade's story'...this is a damn transformers film...this is their story..the whole 'boy & his car' nonsense should be done with..the audience CAN identify with OP & BB by this point..no more excuses.

my advice would be go in with low expectations at this point..maybe you will be pleasantly surprised

I don't know what you mean about "politics surrounding it" but to me it is the best so far.

I think he means Megan Fox's sacking/firing prior to filming.

I think the question this early on is will it be different. It seems like every film we speculate that this time things will be different.

We have the writers room, but so far everyone else seems to be the same old production crew. With writers so low in the Hollywood hierarchy can they really make a difference if one of the producers or Bay digs their heels in?

From the teasers they have released the aesthetics of the robots will be the same as AoE. Great if that style is your thing but not exactly something to win people over who said the style is not their cup of tea.

Also just how much change is Paramount comfortable with? I'm sure Paramount would love to be a contender for top domestic box office again, but are they willing to gamble with their Chinese box office to get there? I'm sure it's not the most comfortable position for a studio to be in.

And while we might not want to even bring up the topic with Paramount wanting a shared universe what if this film pushes the concept too hard and messes up the the film like Sony did with the Amazing Spider Man 2. Or even the feeling people had of Warner Brothers being too focused on a DC live action film universe to make a good Batman v Superman. It's a horrible thought no one wants to come true, but a writers room has a chance of adding problems.

Here's why they won't be different.. We still have several human characters who are all going to take up screen time. Not to mention a couple new ones who are going to need to be introduced.

Once again we won't be getting a true transformers movie.

There's no excuse at this point. I don't know why the transformers can't carry the story, have meaningful dialogue, and have more interaction between each other.

I want something like the '86 movie where the humans tag along and help a little.

Since Transformers the movie, I've Given every new sequel the benefit of the doubt. But now it's just about the cgi and the robots for me.

I believe there will be some improvements from the previous three films. Of course it will be far from perfect, but it will be okay.

I don't know if it will be the same movie but judging from seeing Barricade and two more Decepticons it's safe to say they're trying this time to be what made TF1 a classic.

Dude, I so love your posts!

Well, being classic Hollywood, it's not what you know, it's who you know. And this is coming from a budding screenwriter who imagines possibly working in Hollywood one day.

What kind of problems would you personally imagine that a writers room like this would create, if you can say?

I'm trying to remain optimistic, but after AOE, it's tough. At this point, the only way to know for sure how it'll turn out is to watch it when it's released.

Yes, blame the writers. Ignore the common denominator in so many bad movies.

What do you mean by common denominator?

Me too. Like the classic 'lowest common denominator' or 'LCD' as I call it?

'Cause I know lots of pros in the biz who are TOTAL LCD.

I'm just looking forward to what the new writer's room have come up with.

A large group of focused minds has to be a good thing!?

I just want to see how they bring old and new characters together. I have a really good feeling about TF6 "Bee's Movie" Yes we get to see more of Bee, but that to me is a good thing because that means OP (as much as I love him) will not be around to steal the spotlight lol. Im kind of over the whole OP always coming to save the day in his different GOD MODES lol. Lets see some of the smaller not so stong Bots have to deal with situations some times. I eally want to see how Bee will handle a full movie without the aid of OP. I think it will be good for his character and for the franchise to brake away from OP for a bit and focus more on the small guys and even more so on the lesser known TFs.

    Thanks for all the responses.

I wasn't aware of the writer's room. Interesting. But is this because Paramount wants to take the time to get these movies right, or because they are churning out a new one every year and need to brainstorm ideas FAST? I feel like it's the latter. Time will tell.

they want to make a shared universe with mutilple movies and spin offs, so like Marvel does they hired multiple writters for work on each movie. instead of leaving the writings duties to just one guy (just like how Ehren Kruger was the main writer of the franchise for the last 3 movies)

for example the guys that did Iron Man 1 are doing The Last Knight script while the guys that going to write Ant-man 2 are doing the Cybertron Prequel script

I would have to say my biggest worry right now is they fall into the trend of attempting to set up other films or a wider universe that it ends up feeling like a 2 hour trailer. It's okay not to tie up all the strings and it's okay to tease out future films, but you still want that feeling that you got a full story. For example it felt like Warcraft was attempting so hard to set up the world for future films that it makes it hard to enjoy the actual movie.

Until the movie comes out I think we also have to worry is it a writers room that just works? Like with any team it can come down to chemistry and how well people work together? Sometimes writers rooms are genius and sometimes talented writers just don't work well together.

Since we couldn't be a fly on the wall until the release I'll wonder about crafting the bad guys. Some writers give you a villain that can push the hero for all they worth and other writers get so focused on the hero being cool they don't spend enough crafting into the villain. Hopefully they are going for the best Transformers villain yet.

i still don't see anything changing thanks to having such a heavy emphasis on human involvement. this is movie number 5 and the only real transformers character is prime.. and even he is just full of one liner type trailer talk rather than being a fleshed out character.
