The top cab gun wont stay in on mine.Everything else is secure.

I wish the trailer was a car carrier as well instead of the BFG,but other then I love it.

 

Totally agree with you on FP brut, that thing is awful. Magnus how ever I don't so much as a parts former more an armoured transformer and you can't really have the armour be all one peace or you just have a brick. I would say if it came out today I wouldn't be as impressed and if we get a good voyager prime again any time I'll want a white repaint so 3p's can have another go at amouring him up, maybe losing the BFG and giving him space to carry dlx sized tf's

 

I just want to know how you would do an armor set without parts forming.

& on topic, I can't really add anything that hasn't been said, I think it is a great set and he looks great standing on the shelf with the rest of the movie cast.

 

Na I agree with him, FoC Brut is a way more fun toy, sure it has its flaws to but given the price difference I am a lot more tollerent of the FoC problems.

His statement was that the partsforming aspect of FP Brut is what makes him like it less than FoC Brut.

In my humble opinion, the partsforming is half the fun of FP Brut.

As for the price difference, I have to say you get what you pay for. Again, IMHO.

 

Same as G1 did. Cab, trailer. IMHO that's not parts-forming much--surely nowadays his waist plate and head could be integral.

I have no need for a "white Prime" bonus-mode. Give me a car carrier, and a big blue armored bot. Make the whole toy solely dedicated to that---and it will be awesome and far better than any "modified Prime toy" will ever be.

 

With G1 Magnus, you still needed to add the head, chest plate, waist plate, fists...

 

Sorry, I kinda want to keep it. Actually, I've been thinking of buying a whole KO CC just for the stupid head. That's one great display, BTW.

I can see why some would want a fully integrated Magnus. I mean, he was integrated int he cartoon and has hardly ever been out of his armor otherwise. Still, for me the perfect Magnus is a white prime with armor and FP did an excellent job with that.

Partsforming can be done with great elegance. FP's Bruticus is a great partsformer. Everythign just enhanses the rest and creates an excellent combiner. Another great example is PE's Arcee. Just got one for $60 and I love all her gear. Ditto Scouting Force X. I wouldn't want everyone to be a partsformer, but it certainly has it's place in my collection.

 

Honestly City Commander is the best representation of G1 Magnus that we have gotten so far.

I hate to say it sometimes, but, have you actually LOOKED at FoC Bruticus compared to the Fansproject Colossus set? I am absolutely sure there's a deeper reason behind the dislike of FP Bruticus for many people other than just partsforming.

There's no comparison. FP Bruticus has feet that actually look like feet, arms that are proportionate with the body, and hands that well, actually look like hands. FP Bruticus is not a gangly mess with messed up proportions, while FoC Bruticus is. All because that FP Bruticus partsform, he looks like he has proper proportions. I think taking one look at FoC Bruticus in the direct side by side comparison is enough to seal the deal in favor of partsforming.

Like FoC Bruticus or not, I don't think anyone would argue that he looks like a mess compared to 3P or even G1 combiners. Hell, if you had better hands and feet, the Energon combiners look helluvalot better than FoC Bruticus too. The fact is that with certain kinds of figures, parts forming will **always** be better. I suppose TFC Hercules is an exception, considering his size each figure can have the kind of engineering needed to have self contained parts, but I've never seen any videos of Hercules so I wouldn't know.

All I know is that even with the MMC Predaking, he parts-forms. I just think it cannot be argued against that parts forming is the way to go for the vast majority of combiners.

 

Armor IS parts. I don't understand how else you would do it.

Parts forming never really bothers me all that much. I just love the heft of city commander. He looks like a Magnus should - ready to pound bots to death. Only shortcoming for me was the head.

But as one of the earlier 3rd party offerings, I think they did a bang-up job.
