Last week and this week local TRU only had 2-3 Masterpiece Grimlocks. This morning only 2.
Don't they know this is a hot item? If so, why such a small amount of stock? Why not 5-8 of them like they do with other figures? Is it because he's such a big item? Truly he can't be any different in size than ROTF Prime Leader Class is he?
It would've been nice if TRU stocked at least 5 MP-G's. :(
And why can't they request more for next week? Every time I ask they say something like, "We have no idea what we're going to get till the truck comes."
If they do inventory, like they did this week and they no they have "0" of said items, why wouldn't they request more and KNOW for sure what's coming in?
Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting or whatever. I guess I'm a little disappointed I didn't get one this morning. Just a tad.

Price. This isnt the economy for an average Joe to spend $70 on a toy.

Had they packaged him in robot mode he might have been easier to justify at a glance. Considering his Dinosaur mode is shorter than the ROTF Leaders sitting on the same shelf for almost half the price, which would a parent go for?

Supreme Devastator and Ultimate Bumblebee shelfwarmed like crazy, maybe retailers are just being more careful with ordering expensive toys.

EDIT: Wait, they had 2 this morning and you couldnt get it?

With some retailers they cannot order certain items. They can only wait for their stores share.

    thats what she said :)

    sorry i couldnt resist...
i agree. prob. b/c high price, distribute to alot of stores instead of just a few stores having a ton..and they prob. don't want it to shelfwarm....maybe this is like a trial period to see how HOT they are, then maybe they will start to flood the shelves

I've been told TRU doesn't control the ordering. It's all centrally controlled.

There were two other guy's there at the same time wanting the same figures. Those two just happened to grab the only two MP's before I even had a chance.

I'm more concerned about why stores just decided to skip over a few waves of figures for about four months and never release them in my area :banghead:

I agree with Dirge121's post. Just the crappy economy at the moment for most people. Unless you have a good paying job or you've been saving money up for one, not too many people plan on buying MP Grimlock at this moment.

Seems to be this is how TRU works. They get items in a few at a time. After a while they will start to build up. As long as no one is buying them all, that is.

Didn't it occur to you that they might have had more, but they were sold?

Dang. I was hoping they'd order tons of him, just so he could shelfwarm, and wind up on clearance where I could, ya know, AFFORD HIM. Jeez, why didn't he come out closer to Xmas?

This is WHY they did not order more. They don't want to lose money on a bunch of them because people are too cheap to pay full price.

Toys r us around here does not really clearance anything. There are still rotf exclusives from the lines launch that are sitting at full price.

Simple answer: It's a $70 figure aimed largely at collectors, so there's not as much demand for it.

They've only sold 1 in the past week or so? Doesn't sound like these are flying off the shelves at your location, then. Why, then, would they want to have 5 - 8 in stock, just to have 4 - 7 of them sitting on the shelves taking up space instead of 2?

I think he meant they received 2-3, sold them. And this morning received 2 more and 2 people ahead of him got them.

A 100 or more people on this forum, plus let's say 100 per each other transformer websites want this figure. There are +600 Toy R Us retail locations (+600 stores x 3 or so figures). Do not blame the store for "failing" to supply consumers, you should blame the hoarders who plan to resell; however, you cannot blame the quickest consumer who is willing and able to buy a product.

Everyone else has a point too...$70 bucks is a little rough right now for the average collector. In addition, there are thousands of TF fans but not all of us care or want an MP Grimlock.

    Yes,
"I think he meant they received 2-3, sold them" is exactly what I mean. I don't know how much they had last week as I was there two hours to late. But I think somebody else said that he got one and the other two disappeared before he knew it. So, I guess that means they had three last week.
I only saw the two today that were grabbed in front of me. Somebody said they had a third one back there but didn't see it at all.
I'm not really complaining, just curious as to why so little of one figure. Don't they sell a bunch of other things that cost about the same?
Anyway, I don't really care at this point. I just wanted to get MP Grimlock while he was still cheap, and I don't want to pay the scalpers fees on ebay. At this point, I'm aiming towards the Takara version which is supposedly better anyway.
Yea, this morning was disappointing, but so what? It's just a toy to collect and there is the better version of it anyhow.
Just would've been nice to come home with something new.
