Yep, thats what i heard too. I think Ledger is doing a wonderful job from what we've seen. I look forward to the explination of his scarred mouth...
I'm not going to put this Joker down because it has great potential and Batman Begins was a fine movie. I will say though that I was always entertained by the Joker in the Batman Animated series (early 90's). The episodes he appeared in were always my favorite. So, I can only hope this Joker is as entertaining to watch.
I just feel the need to say this. If I wanted a movie grounded in reality, I wouldn't be seeing a comic book movie about a rich guy who uses super gadgetry and dresses like a bat.
There's a difference. We say "realistic" like it feels realistic. Not "Campy" like the Burton/Shoemaker/Whoever Batman movies.
It shouldn't be very campy. But it doesn't have to feel realistic at all. It's the same world as a guy that flies around and can bench planets.
It's not though. Nolan's Batman is not in a "superhero" universe. There is no Superman. There is no Wonder Woman. There is no JLA.
It is. It's the DC Universe. Gotham and Metropolis both exist. There's a reason why Christian Bale was originally confirmed for Batman in the Justice League live action movie.
He may play Batman in a Justice League movie, but in Nolan's Batman movie universe, there is no Superman. There are no Super powered people.
When he officially states that in an interview you're right. Until then, you're only able to base that on the lack of actual DC/WB Super hero movies. Can't reference characters that don't have a movie yet.
I like it for the most part, but the smeared tacky looking makeup, the scars, and as others have said, the lack of actual enjoyment seem to take away from what the joker is, that being said I'll still watch this movie.
The best joker ever was the DCAU one, can't beat him Having said that, I hope this one's close...but so far he seems to be the wrong kind of crazy...
