Actually, I would prefer if "Blitzwing" had a new name all together. Maybe something like Sky Stalker.

Regardless, for me and my head cannon, it is either Starscream as he is (and he survives just like how G1 SS always seemed to survive being blasted apart) or he's a completely different Seeker and, in my head, has a completely different color scheme (and he still dies). I haven't decided but I'll worry about that when I get the toy which will either become my toy movie Starscream or I'll have to paint him with a different deco.

Man, it would have been so much easier had they just changed the deco like MP "GreenScream" did to be a more "realistic" deco military jet.

Also, AB, Dreadwing would have been pretty cool to see him as. Maybe make him one of he Blue Angels to give him that Dreadwing blue vibe!
I think we can all agree that a name change to someone that better fit the character was the least they could have done.

To be perfectly honest, Blitzwing actually does have more than passing difference to Starscream, if only because Starscream is much more boldly colored and has a completely different head in the film itself.

Compare to the more two-toned, flight-mask wearing Blitzwing

At this point you could probably string two words together and land on a TF name. lol

I actually dig the "Star Wing" head for a movie Starscream. It kind of fits with the original Bayverse look while still giving off a G1 vibe! But, yeah, I totally agree that this was more of fan assumption when that trailer hit, it kind of just goes to show how desperate fans are to see designs that have a more cohesive, G1 vibe then the "pile of scraps" that previous movies went with. I can understand that desire.

Just because it's G1 based doesn't mean it IS G1... Complaining about the lack of blue is a very minor detail considering that's not even the main thing Starscream was known for. That's like asking where's the yellow on Optimus Prime. He's primarily a red and blue robot, yes G1 Had some yellow bits as well around his pelvis and the arrows on his arms but forgetting to paint those yellow bits in doesn't make him a completely different character.

He was clearly intended to be Starscream. My personal preferences doesn't even factor in here. Millions of people thought that was going to Starscream because he looks like Starscream. There's no debating that. If he was never going to be Starscream and that was always the intention not one single person would of thought he was.

Starscream also never looked like that so alive or dead simply him having that design already causes a problem with the continuity. I don't think they even came up with that design until they planned for it being a reboot.

Why? Because you don't like the idea of Starscream dying?

To prove what exactly? That Blitzwing doesn't look like Starscream? They could have the 2007 version in the movie and it wouldn't make a difference. The presence of another Starscream doesn't prove Blitzwing doesn't look like him.

In order to prove that Blitzwing doesn't look like Starscream you have to prove that not one single person took a look at that design in the trailer and immediately assumed that was going to be Starscream. You can't prove he doesn't look like Starscream because clearly he does or no one would of thought that's who he was.

Again what I like or not is totally irrelevant. The fact that he was inspired by the seeker design and uses Starscream's color scheme proves he was intended to be Starscream. The fact that they name slapped with a character who wasn't even a Seeker when everyone else in the movie looks so much like their G1 name sake proves he was intended to be Starscream.

You keep talking about what I like but it sounds to me like you just don't want it to be Starscream because he dies and you hate that idea for some reason. So you're trying to disprove that millions of people looked at this and saw Starscream rather than accepting the fact that it was clearly meant to be Starscream before they slapped Blitzwing on at the last minute.

It's implied. Those two things kind of automatically go together. Either he was clearly intended to be Starscream and they name slapped Blitzwing on him at the last minute or he was always going to be Blitzwing and never going to be Starscream. You can't have it both ways. It's one or the other.

Why? That's just as random as he looks nothing like Dreadwing either.

Actually I think Hasbro did that AFTER the name slap. Those toys weren't released till after the movie had already been made. Same with that face swapping Blitzwing toy. Hasbro made them after the fact trying to sell the idea that this was Blizwing by making toys with Blitzwing gimmicks and a tank mode that don't even appear in the actual movie.

They didn't even design a new toy for that tank version they literally just put a different head on ROTF Megatron.

In any case... we're talking about what appeared in the movie not the toys... not even really the movie, we're discussing that first trailer.

Some people actually thought it was going to be Ramjet for some weird reason but Ramjet has a cone head and no red on him. The vast majority though... even the people who thought maybe Ramjet... were all saying it was most likely Starscream.

I'm willing to bet even YOU thought it was going to be Starscream. Either you're arguing with me just for the sake of arguing/playing dumb to drag out this argument as long as possible or you actually have no clue who Starscream even is in which case why are you even here? Either way I'm sure you're trolling me right now so good bye.

It doesn't even make sense if you look at Bumblebee from the angle that this was originally a prequel to the 2007 film. You can't have Starscream straight up die...and then appear as a completely different guy like it never happened.

To be fair, you are probably correct in that it originally was Starscream, but the reboot angle changed everything and they instead made the robot into a nobody who dies.

Yeah but it would have stopped people from bitching about why Blitzwing wasn't a triple changer all this time and coming up with incredibly stupid ideas justifying why he should have been (like referencing that age-old Cloud redeco of T30 Blitzwing as Starscream), which would have been nice.

You do realize the original didn't have the conehead (which was just a thing the cartoon did by leaving the nosecone flipped up on the toy) and had BIG RED WINGS right?

Initially, yes, I did...but I had FIVE SECONDS of film footage to go off of. Who did you think it was going to be based on nothing but that initial trailer clip?

Yet they worked the yellow in this very G1 based Optimus in the film. Plus the ACTUAL Starscream in the movie has the blue, so I guess it was important enough for the filmmakers to acknowledge it. These designs were made to make people go "Ermahgerd mah Geewun."

"People who saw the trailer thought he was Starscream" is a very weak argument. Who cares what other people thought? Everybody was wrong. The director wanted that design in there and the colorscheme was likely a homage. Trailers are meant to get you excited and people hyped themselves for Starscream and got disappointed. It's not like there are other Decepticons out there that share the Seeker body right?

Well if it's a reboot, which this looks to be at this point, then there isn't a continuity issue.

I don't care too much if Starscream dies or not, but if you're rebooting the film franchise, which once again its all but confirmed to be, then you don't kill off one of the most iconic and well-known characters of the franchise within like 10 minutes of the opening with less than three minutes of screentime.

No one has said that he doesn't look like Starscream, or at least looks very similar. Just arguing that he wasn't ever meant to definitively be Starscream which, all signs point to being the case. Once again, people recognizing a design that looks like a similar design as Starscream doesn't mean he was always meant to be Starscream. In that case, Armada Wheeljack should have been Sideswipe right?

I'm sorry but that doesn't prove anything and is a VERY weak argument with no actual supporting facts other than "but people thought".

The director has said the design was an homage. The actual Starscream is in the Cybertron scenes. Hell, they may be non-canon, but the prequel comics, which were made with stuff from waaaaay earlier in production, STILL had the character as Blitzwing with him and Bumblebee having a rivalry on Earth to explain why they fight at the start of the movie. I'll admit, that isn't the strongest argument either, but at least it's based on the actual production of the movie. ALL signs point to it being an homage, no matter how close it is.

You know, I really like the idea of 2007 series Starscream as reallying being Ramjet, he's just missing the red wings for me. I liked the idea so much that I took one of the Deluxe (even though I wanted a voyager for this) SS figures (the one with the weird brown spear weapon and buzzsaw thing IIRC) and painted his wings red. Fits the design perfectly, IMO.

I originally thought it was Starscream from the trailers, but not during the movie itself especially after seeing 'scream in the Cybertron scene.
I think naming the earth seeker Ramjet would've worked better then Blitzwing.
    Just my 2 cents.

Wait....because people like the " Transformers" live action films only, they arent "real fans"?

ANYBODY who likes Transformers, whatever the incarnation,IS a real fan. This is why I don't go to Star Wars fan groups...same attitude.

I think you got it wrong, he is saying the people who only goes to watch because it's the new hype, but doesn't even know who the characters at all/doesn't care about the plot at all.

I mean, some people go to Guardian of the Galaxy movie only to see Chris Pratt, it's kind of same case here but with Mark Wahlberg.

As the poster above responded to you and pointed out, I'll be more direct and say if you spent a third of the effort you put into being professionally offended at any anti-Bay comments as you did into actually reading this thread, you'd see the comment you're huffing about was already addressed and clarified.
