Why no recent G1 Grimlock reissue?

I'm just getting back into collecting TFs so please forgive my ignorance, but why has neither Hasbro nor Takara ever done a recent G1 reissue of Grimlock? I'm aware of the 1992 version that primarily came in blue but I don't get why they didn't include him in the wave of TRU exclusive reissues beginning in 2002. Surely they must know that he's one of the most popular characters of all time.
Does anyone know why he hasn't been re-released by Hasbro or Takara?

    Cool!

Is the MP version the size of the original?

The MP is approximately 3 times the size of G1 Grimlock.

As per your question, I suspect Grimlock to be either an SDCC exclusive or later on for TRU exclusives as TRU has been getting G1s.

As far as I know, Grimlock and the other Dinobot molds were reported to be five of the molds that were destroyed/lost in a fire. They'd have to reverse engineer him to get a reissue out, and I remember them saying something about that being too costly to consider, or something like that.
