If Transformers are supposed to be highly advanced alien robots, then how come their weapons are Earth-like? Meaning, all I see were rockets, missiles, and machine-guns. With maybe the exception of Megatron when he put his arms together to form some sort of weapon.
But seriously, I kind of expected to see lasers and more advanced stuff!
I mean, shit, even James Bond had lasers in Moonraker!
Not very advanced if you ask me. Will there be lasers in TF3? Even Terminator had lasers!

You, my friend, are guilty of stereotyping alien races. Not all of them need necessarily have attained the know-how to build and use beam weaponry. :D

Hey, if their advanced enough to transform into cars and what not. Surely they can have lasers or some form of weapon better than bullets and rockets.

Well look at it this way, a laser is simply light. Its only damaging effects are related to the heat it generates at the point of impact thus allowing it to be used as a cutting device. A laser also has a specific effective range. Its focused light, if you've ever tried to burn something using the sun and a magnifying glass you were using the basics of how a laser works. You have a specific focal point at which its most effective, out side that limited range its just a fancy light show. Then of course inorder for a laser to cut anything you need a great deal of power. Its a very impractical weapon, especially if your in a fast moving battle.

Could the TFs get around these limitations with their technology, probably, but why waste the time when ballistic and explosive ordinances are easier to make, use, and apparently very effective. I mean I could drop a nuke on you and you'd be very dead, I could also hit you in the head with a rock and get the same effect. Its all about how much effort I want to put into it. Not to mention a few million years of civil war has at the point the movies start drained their resources its possible they had the advanced weapons on Cybertron, but the power cells or what not to use them are drained.

All that would happen if Bay introduces lasers into TF3 is that half the audience will end up having epileptic fits from the flashing lights....

It is kind of sad they seemed to have dropped so much of the sci fi element to the weapons in the second film.

In the first film that weapon that Blackout used on the base was just so cool from a visual point of view and really helped to make the film stand out from other sci fi or action films. That nice feeling of wow that's really different.

Suppose you're disappointed they didn't want to be taken to our leaders too.

    Ebay:
Bumblebee has a pew-pew laser on his arm. So does RotF Megatron. Even Primes weapons have some sort of weird orange effect, even though they shoot projectiles.

I have to admit though, I miss the oomph of the laser sound effects from the G1 movie. Wish BB's cannon made the "Autobot laser" sound, lol.

Personally, I enjoy how machine guns and rockets are built into the movie Transformers on the most fundamental level. The "lasers" are sort of upgrades.

Ratchet had a surgical laser of some sort in the first movie while talking about Bee's voice box right?

"Further testing reveals that Cybertronian laser technology has the nasty habit of igniting the atmospheres of inhabited worlds. Must make note of this and distribute appropriate refits.

Yea, but that wasn't used as a weapon.
I suppose because they used Earth's machinery as their alt-modes they had to use Earth's weaponry as well. Perhaps if we see them on another planet in T3 they might have lasers or other such weapons then.
As for take me to your leader, I could care less about that phrase. Besides, that's not something the Decepticons would do anyway. Megatron would more likely claim leadership then asking to be sent to Earth's leader.
Anyway, would like to see more advanced weapons in T3. Wether or not it is a "laser".

Lasers are cool, but I really don“t mind the bullets approach at all!

What I DO find funny is that most Decepticons in robot mode seem to have access to the weapons found on their military altmodes, while the Autobots somehow seem to have better guns..:D

To be perfectly honest, I like guns and bullets better, it keeps the undertone that no matter what species, war will always be gritty, painful, and "primitive" (if you will).

Are you saying lasers are too 80's? Lasers were supposed to have been the "high-tech" futuristic weapons.

They have the plasma bolts. Which I honestly think look better than beams.

Yeah, only this isn't the 80's anymore. Who needs lasers when you got Railguns like this?

YES. We need to see the advanced arsenal in TF3, specially from the Decepticon side. A good example, and a favorite of mine, is District 9 weapons.

    Bring on the LASERS.

Also if nobody noticed this, when starscream shoots his rocket launcher it sounds like a slowed down version of his G1 Null ray.
