So in the past we have all thought or agreed that Has/Tak has dropped the ball on re-using certain molds to make new/variant figures. This one however was a no brainer. If the first stateside release of Grimlock was a TRU exclusive, then it could have made sense to make the blue G2 release of Grimlock a Wal-Mart exclusive. Or online exclusive. What do you guys think?
Doing a full run of a repaint that only 6 people would actually want probably doesn't make a whole lot of economic sense for them.
Lol, come on G2 isnt that bad, the pyschotropic colors are original. Plus my Little Pony fans would love the colors!
Why because it's a G2 figure. MP Grimlock sold pretty well and from what I understand the G2 dinobots are some of the most popular G2 figures. It's not like they have some outlandish color scheme like breakdown they just went from silver to blue or red or green, they don't look ugly or any thing. But I do agree that if one were to happen it would probably be an exclusive and I really hope it happens.
I would rather see a certain other mold released in the states in blue first. It isn't that bad of a color scheme for Grimlock and compared to other G2 figures it's kind of tame. If it was released for $60 I would try to get it.
I think this is another argument in favor of Classics/Generations Dinobots. You've got the initial release, G2 repaint releases, and you can actually use most if not all of them as other characters as well, as they did with Grimlock-to-Overkill. I really don't understand it when people say that Generations Dinobots would lack repaint opportunities.
Changing the gray to blue isn't likely enough of a redeco to ever be considered, and Optimus is likely the only figure they could redeco a Masterpiece of and sell a second time. Plus how many people would want a G2 Masterpiece Grimlock? Granted I would, but I doubt many people would buy it if they had the normal one, and I doubt people would want it over the gray. Randy
