Why is Takara Legends Blurr so ridiculously overpriced?

True, I wouldn't call myself a diehard since Hasbro's version of Blur came home with me the moment I spotted him at retail. But I am looking forward to that Takara version of TR Astrotrain. Though the price will make me spite BBTS for the foreseeable future though.

Remember too, that Blurr and Scourge were higher priced than they should have been originally too. The yen is stronger AND these guys have more paint apps so were higher list prices initially.

I'm a huge Blurr fan so I'm happy to see him getting some love. As soon as I saw the Takara colors, I immediately ordered multiples because I love the color scheme. I didn't think the market would jump like this though, I guess I should have ordered even more.

I agree on this, I love the Scourge character, and I think the design looks very cool. However, after getting Scourge in hand I was not terribly impressed. For me, Blurr was the runaway winner for this wave. He is a good design, and works fairly well even with the small size. In general I think these toys should be about 20-30% larger, but it is what it is.

This is because the CHUG collectors you are referencing are also the ones who have said that they have their "definite version" of the character. And because of that, they do not need either version and some went the Hasbro route so they can add the Sweeps. (Which I hope answers that for you.)

And also... Here is a scary fact: "LG22" Skull is now in the $80 to $100 range in Japan's secondary market. :p

^ Where I am, Legends Skullcruncher (MISB, not loose/stolen pieces) is still at USD $36.

The market, at least in Japan, has cooled down a bit with him. So you might have some luck while that is happening. :)

But "LG22" Skull? Oh man! What one site says he is worth scares me! :lol

Hard to tell - dunno why but since the new forum design the "Location" is no longer visible on people's profiles. Since the majority of people here are from America, I tend to assume most users are from there unless I know the person already.

How dare you make sense and have good taste in terms of buying exclusives! ;)

[Translation: Agreed. But my guess is because fans ended up liking him enough to let this happen.]

Why? Because many of us, including myself, have been waiting for a G1 update to Blurr and this figure fits that bill rather nicely. You just have to ignore the headmaster gimmick.

Have to admit wasn't quite expecting the ludicrous pricing to hit so soon. Thank fully though managed to get one for $42 and change off ebay.

I missed out on the Legends Blurr, because I just wasn't paying attention to the differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions, and figured the Hasbro would look good enough. Well, I like the mold, but the Hasbro colors leave much to be desired. Rather than chase after the Legends version, however, I'm going to be patient and either wait for the prices to come down or wait for a re-release. I think it'll happen. Takara has re-released Legends molds before (Springer, the BW trio). Even if it's not the exact same deco as the original Legends, it'll most likely be comparable. Hasbro might even re-release it in a more accurate deco. Probably in an overpriced Platinum Edition boxset, but at least it would be something.
