After seeing the Dino trailer, I had a thought. What if the quintisons tried to terraform earth for humans, causing the Dino Extinction. In the lore the quints created transformers, what if grim and the others were sent to do the Terra forming, and their ships crashed in the process. Then the quints unhappy with cybertron all but destroyed, decide to go and transform earth again, sending lockdown to get prime out of the way. Prime then finds the Dino and ask for both their muscle and knowledge of the Terra former machine (nightship). Just a thought
The movies dont follow the same story as the cartoon. There is no reason to think the Quintasons created the Trasnformers or Cybertron. It is implied the Allspark is responsible for Transformer life, unless that gets retconned.
You are correct, however, keep in mind ships can change over millions of years, and who is to say that his ship couldn't do the same thing. That part likely wrong, but you never know... Well until the movie.
The all spark had to come from somewhere. True, they don't follow the cartoon, always, but they do borrow from all lore and incarnations.
