I can’t believe that Fanstoys is the only company to produce an MP Perceptor when there are like 5 MP Springers out there. Is the autobot scientist not considered important? He is to me 

 

I can’t believe Takara hasn’t tackled this one yet. Zero licensing fee and it was one of the favorites of an original Takara creator. It has history and doesn’t need a license from a car company. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but what do I know?

 

Yeah, and it is hard to believe Iron Factory is only one to make a legends Perceptor (besides the knockoff remold of Hot Soldiers Soundwave).

Perceptor doesn't get a lot of love. He at least has gotten acouple of CHUG figures, and appeared fairly regular in the old IDW comics and that CGI toy cartoon series. Maybe the next comic or cartoon will utilize him a bit more.

 

Sometimes I'm curious as to why the third parties pick the characters they do, but I think it boils down to whether or not they think it'll sell (Perceptor's not a huge character) and whether or not they really want to do one (again) based on personal preference. I'm most perplexed by the Transformers that have a bunch of options (see: Stunticon wars), when gimme characters like the original trio of seekers have only been done once at MP scale by third parties. For Perceptor, MP fans are covered by the FT version I suppose, and CHUG fans have Asclepius and the TR and RTS versions of the character. I'd say most companies are probably considering him a low priority. That all said, for all I know an Ocular Max/XTB/DX9 Perceptor could be revealed tomorrow.

 

Maybe nobody thinks that FT did a crappy enough job to want to try and make another one? Tesla had its fair share of problems according to the common complaints (plastic issues, his face), but nothing aside from that truly seemed to be an issue. FT kinda got his transformation scheme down and provided replacement parts to make him whatever Perceptor you wanted him to be. I'm sure someone will get to him eventually as we're running out of Season 1-3 guys to revisit.

 

This seems like the likeliest explanation. It's the same story with Blaster. KFC's has been good enough for most people.

I love the name SkyGarry. I like to imagine he's not a super robot, but just some overly enthusiastic middle aged actuary named Gary with a hang glider.
I realize that this doesn't contribute to anything, but there it is.

 

I have to imagine that the basis for that name is "Sky Carry". Since that's what he is, is a flying box carrier. I'm not versed in Japanese language rules, but I know that on occasions, the hard "K" consonant gets softened to a "G" sound instead (most common I've seen is "kami" is often rendered as "gami" in contractions). Constructicon Hook became "Glen" which is most certainly based on "Crane".

 

Might have something to do with the fact there's just not a lot of display capability with Perceptor. Standing a microscope with a bunch of cars seems pretty strange, or maybe it's a construction issue, just shooting guesses.

 

I love his name too. It was clearly supposed to be SkyCarry but I feel SkyGarry fits:

There's always a chance they will. He's dried up everywhere and FT do randomly come around to release old characters again. Even Quakewave got a couple of new runs years after the fact.
Hopefully, if they ever do, they'll use better materials.
I do still need an alt mode Perceptor and I've given up the thought that Takara will ever touch him (Does anyone think Takara will give us a "complete" MP collection?)

If it's not FT, the only other company I can see doing Percy would be XTB/KFC.

 

I'm still holding out hope for FT to redo Tesla like Cesium... Perfect Fusion = Fans Toys mulligan line!

I think 3rd party just believes there is more money in other figures. The only other third party I know of is the Planet X version and you can get that for $35 on BBTS. Love that figure btw. I think there is probably money for one company to make one and profit since Fanstoys never did and probably wont do a reissue. If XTB did one I'd buy it. I think we will probably eventually get another.

 

I feel like MMC could knock this out of the park. Let's face it, Tesla is not one of FT's better offerings.

 

This is one I'd actually really like to see Takara do well, and it's just waiting there for them to do it in a good toon style.
