No, I'm saying that suggesting Erector for the TF Hall of Fame is a joke. With this spilling over from the Fuzzy forum, yeah, it's a gas. But even if I hadn't already voted, I wouldn't vote for a gag.

It has nothing to do with me thinking my vote is more "important" than yours.

"Choosing Dinobot last year as the winning vote was a very good move. It showed that the TF fandom isn't just into characters due to shallow fanservice or whatnot, but into characters with actual three-dimensional personalities and a depth of quality put into his/her character development.

Dinobot was prime example of this. He appeared in just one series, had barely any notable homages or expies to the guy, but was created as so well a character that he was able to shine above the more well-known guys who always get used time and time again just to please the longtime G1 fans without any real consideration.

Therefore, this next entry should be someone who is just as unique, deep, and thoroughly developed a character as Dinobot was. Whoever that may be I don't know at the moment. But whoever it is shouldn't be chosen simply because of being a well-known character.

All the inductees so far have been early G1 characters who've popped up in various incarnations over and over, with the exception of Dinobot, who is a representative of the Beast era.

What Erector represents is a recognition of the late G1 era, all those gimmicks that had great potential, the ones that worked and the ones that didn't. Erector was a great example of what could be done with the micromaster line, how a small toy could still look good and be fun, and how you could increase the play value with playsets and interchangable accessories, something that the transformers line hadn't really been able to pull off successfully before then.

Micromasters paved the way for minicons, and they paved the way for the world's smallest transformers series, which was possibly some of the finest engineering work we've seen from Takara, and there'd certainly be no powercore combiners without the micromasters and Erector. All these toys have packed big fun into small bots, pushed the limits of what can be accomplished in engineering the transformers toys, in terms of features and detail. They've used their small size to reach new audiences, and experiment with new forms of play that have really enriched the brand. They might not have always been commercial hits, but they're unique and they've earned a special place in the hearts of many fans.

Erector will never be as recognizable as Optimus Prime, he probably won't show up in DOTM and he probably isn't next in line for a masterpiece release. But he was a special figure, and he's loved dearly by a great number of fans, and isn't that a better choice for a fan favorite?

He's got my vote, dammit.
