OK Here we go. I have tried repeatedly to buy a G1 Dreadwind, to be out bid (I’m talking large amounts!) by one frig'n person every time. Normally I wouldn't bid as much as I do, but I know with 100% assurance that this person will bid more than my top bid, so I will continue to let him bit the bullet. If this is someone on the board I apologize, but your obsessive compulsive buying of every Dreadwind, deserves retribution! If you think I’m a douche-bag for doing this, I apologize as I just want 1 Dread wind, well a good complete Dreadwind. Just 1………….. Auction Links: Enjoy http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6041368587&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6039712923&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1 Now granted, I have bought G1 Darkwing from this buyer with no problem. I just don’t understand not letting one auction go to another person. These 2 are just examples (which I have bid on), I have watched this person buy these up for at least 6-months.
The average price for a complete Dreadwing is $75.00 to $90.00 easily, depending on condition. Don't know why this bidder is wanting so many of them. Maybe he thinks he can resale them for more? I'm glad both of my Dreadwing and Darkwing are in dead mint condition. Now to find a dead mint Hydra and Buster.
This is that mysterious guy who wants to buy EVERY SINGLE ONE EVER MADE. No shit. He's a legend among collectors. Some say a myth, like he's Santa Claus or something. He's no myth. Just look at his feedback. If you have one, this is the idiot to sell it to for $300. He'll buy it just because he's sick.
You do realize if you bid $1.03 more on the first auction you would have outbid him. His bid of $169 was his high bid.
That's no guarantee. He snipes his auctions all at the last second, and probably puts his max WAY up there, therefore insuring he'll outbid the highest bidder. He probably uses a sniping program. The only way to beat this prick is to put in a max bid that is more astronomical than his. If I had $1000 to wager with, I'd make him pay out the ass for one. Too bad I don't.
No really true, on an earlier auction, that I deleted (Damn it!). I pushed my highest bid to 189.00, and he still beat me!! That was after watching him for about 4 months and knowing that he would beat me. I wouldn't pay over 90-ish for Dreadwind, but if he is willing to pay that much I will help his cause!
The bid increment is $2.50 at that price. If he put a max bid of $169.01 then his bid would show as $169.01. This would be the case up to $170.48 ($2.50 more than your bid). Because his highest bid was $169, his bid was not enough to cover the $2.50 bid increment even though it was still enough to beat your bid. Since his bid was put in 6 seconds before the auction ended he was probably using a sniping program and would not be able to place another bid before time ran out.
Why is he doing that? What is so special about dreadwing? And it's possible to outbid on your own with only a properly set clock. I've done a manual snipe before with 1 second left. My sniping days are behind me, but it wasn't that hard to do it manually. If he's a bidder that only snipes and doesn't raise the bid early, try a bid of 200.02. He's probably putting 200.01 bids on, and it is priceless when you beat them by 1 cent. But then again, don't, because it sure isn't worth that much, put a bid of 199.99 instead.
That probably was not his max bid. It was just the highest that it got pushed up to. Ebay doesn't make you pay more than the next highest bid + bid increment. So if this guy bid $1000 and our guy (sorry, forgot who started the thread ) bid $185, the other guy would've won at $187.50. (assuming that's the $2.50 increment range) But yeah, this guy is insane. I'm glad I got mine a while back, even if it isn't dead mint.
He only won by $1.02, not by the bid increment of $2.50. I am wondering if this guy knows something about Dreadwind being in demand in the future or is he is just crazy or a really big fan?
In the future, all G1 Transformers start to disintegrate, except for Dreadwind for some unknown reason. The resulting scramble for the one surviving G1 TF, which this guy will have several thousand of by then, makes him a bajillionaire. Ironically though, he is killed when an F-16 is blown out of the sky and lands on his car while on his way to the bank to deposit the money.
Maybe Dreadwind is in the upcoming movie. Maybe he is the star of the movie. Maybe the movie is only about him. I think he is also a villian in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.
If he wasn't leaving feedback you would almost think that he was using a snipe program and a automated bank draft, and something happened to him and now trumpets and dreadwings are constantly be purchased and mailed to his home.
