Why doesn't Hastak give figures poseable hands.

I personally think the fully articulated hands that 3ps use look really awkward. I have a few for some of my MPs. Maybe it's a peeve but a pinky should be smaller than an index finger. MP Megatron's hands find a great balance of looks, articulation, and stability.

Because doing so would jack the prices up skyhigh?

How do people still not get this? Every time you want a new feature it raises prices. The more complex the figure=the higher the price.

Nowadays I'm fine with non poseable hands, since it allows you to trade weapons with other figures and such. And it just keeps the price down?

And those hands are total crap for anything besides static posing. I have a pair I was going to use for MP Starsaber, and after installing them, I just hated how they looked and put the thousand-times better stock hands back on.

This is probably the absolute 100% truth. If toys aren't allowed to use the little missiles they used to come with many years ago, then tiny finger pieces would be a definite no-no. Toy manufacturers have a standard they need to stick to, and whether we like it or now, that's how it is. It's why the parasite companies can get away with whatever they like since they don't need to care about safety laws or anything like that.

Sure, parts count and money probably also factor in, but assuming they won't use articulated fingers solely because the company is lazy or cheap (seriously, grow up already) is naive at best.

Because children and US toy safety laws. I doubt fully posable hands would survive the drop test. I am not going to try it, but you should drop some of your figures with posable hands and see if any parts fly off.

Personally, I'll take a closed fist with a 5mm hole any day over articulated hands. To me, articulated hands look awkward, don't hold a gun well, and often times the fingers pop out at the ball joint because they're so small.

I'm another one who's glad they don't, even on MPs!

I usually find those fully poesable hands annoying, floppy and bad looking, especially on smaller figures where they can look comically too big when opened out flat and generally resemble a bunch of grapes or skeleton hand - just a bunch of knobbly joints!

I tried out some on large figs like Star Saber and Ultra Magnus where I felt the stock hands should have been at least a bit more poseable, and they are OK as they are big enough to retain some of the original sculpt around the joints, but the MP-10 and Soundwave sized ones are into annoying territory being loose and fiddly.

I always have thought the original MP Seeker hands strike the perfect balance of enough poseabilty for expressiveness without being fiddly and annoying. You can do pretty much everything - fist, flat hand, the finger point, etc. For years I dreamed of the perfect hand being that Seeker level of articulation with the detailed sculpt of later hands and a palm slot for weapon holding. Lo and behold that's exactly what we got with MP-36 Megatron - perfect MP hands!

I don't mind smaller figs like carbots having less articulated hands. I'm happy with current MP carbot hands but I like they are trying something new and more expressive, but still quite simple, with Sunstreaker. He looks like he'll strike a perfect balance for a smaller fig.

    Amen to all of this!

Sunstreaker's hands look great, because they actually look a little more natural towards the wrist by being connected with a pin instead of some kind of mushroom peg

The shared thumb and wrist articulation is a stroke of genius.

And MP Megatron has the most perfect hands, hands down.

Hell yes I went for that pun :lol

Anyway... yeah I agree they really do look more natural - his hands pose great in all of the promo pics. And what's not to like about finally getting hands that can do a Hadoken pose!! :)

Remember when Generations Darkmount had balljointed wrists and hinged fingers.

For CHUGs, who fucking cares. But, MPs should be better. Megs 2.0 was pretty damn good, but something like Fanstoys Skyfire was the shit.

Cost and QC concerns probably run up against a desire for realism. It's easier for them to mold a mitt-like set of fingers, where each finger is the appropriate length but molded as a single unit, than to design a hand with fingers in which the individual phalanges are the proportional length, and then they taper towards the end. And then, you have the wonder that is the thumb, and its complex joint system. Think you had problems with QC with just two hands and mitt fingers? You massively increase the chances that a finger is installed wrong with that many more parts to assemble!

You mean like how the FE Cliffjumper mold does it?

That would be cool, and I really liked it, but I feel like it wouldn’t work on every character.
