I'm just curious, why does these peoples hate this blue narcissist so much?
It's the hipster hips and cumbersome transformation.
I loved the first pictures i saw of him. Then i discovered his upper body is completely hollow and you can see right through him and that was a heartbreaking dissapointment. Takara should be ashamed of him and i hope we get a 3P MP Tracks that looks the same but has a proper upper body.
Because the effort that went into designing him isn't really up to MP standards. I don't hate him, I just don't think he's a shining example of how great this line can be.
I think this needs to be made clear, MP-25 is not by any definition a bad toy. In fact, he's actually quite the opposite but all in all, when compared to the other MP cars that had come out by that point, you really start to see all its faults when it comes to his hollow torso which also has troubles locking in, a transformation that to me is fine but definitely not up to the standards of Masterpiece and all in all, it was a heaping disappointment.
I like Tracks a lot. Yes it is the weakest of the MP cars but I still love the mold. I also purchased road rage and loud pedal.
Everyone's entitled to their opinions but personally I thought he was awesome.
But y'know. That's just me.
The whole torso design is so clunky, gappy and barely holds itself together. It is also too much of a chore to transform.
I'll just hang out in the minority with you. I love the guy.
I don't think many hate him exactly...he's just the least impressive so he gets the most crap.
Tracks was the beginning of the end of my TakTom MP collecting.
I wasn't aware.
How are hips hipster?
Honestly, I think part of it is that some people get "designer snobbish" about it.
By that, I mean that they know it's not Hasui who designed it, so they start nitpicking certain details about it or whatever.
A friend of mine had close to 3000 Transformers. He buys really all series. In his collection are even things like Bot Shots. When I ask him about this, he admits that they're not great, but he can see things he likes in every figure he buys.
When he bought Tracks, he summed up his sentiments like this: Tracks just isn't very good. Someone who can see good in Bot Shots found Tracks to be not very good.
To me, when in altmode, Tracks is excellent. The transformation is a bit fiddly with the arms and the way the chest forms. The upper body is a big gap and that is an issue. True, many of the MP cars have hollow parts. But it's less visible: the Datsuns have hollow legs when viewed from the back and the Lambors have hollow parts in the lower legs and the chest also isn't a solid piece when looked at from the side. But it's something you have to look for and don't see that clearly. With Tracks, it's far more visible when simply looking at him.
Then parts don't like to tab in, his chest and the back of the car over his head. The connection just isn't as good as it should be. Add to this the elbows that might break and the floppy knee(s).
Also, his design influence. He's not very cartoon accurate nor toy accurate. Mainly because of the chest that both in the animation model as with the toy, was a small canopy over a wide torso. And the altmode makes this possible, but due to the transformation he ends up with a slimmer torso and thus a wide canopy. He looks to be based on his box art and that makes him somewhat different from the others in design.
Yet, despite all this, he looks more at home with the other cars to me than Ironhide/Ratchet. But he isn't nearly as much fun as those are.
Rear section of the alt mode unclips far too easily.
There are some other tabbing issues that were solved with Road Rage, but then RR introduced other tabbing problems instead.
The real frustration, for me, is that i rather like it how it looks.
But picking it up usually reminds me why i put it down.
Thats the heartbreak:
He looks amazing in altmode and when you look at him from the front.
Its a toy you want to love and you would love if he did not have all those problems.
I am certain he would be a lot of peoples favorite MP if he didnt have all those issues.
It certainly has its drawbacks but it's awesome IMO.
This certainly could be part of it. Once this started to be a topic of bickering, this fandom yet again reached a new low in elitism.
He's my second masterpiece and I love him. Same as MP hot rod. They have the right looks and are fun to transform. They are exactly what I wanted. And I have no problems with it, I don't even want to bother looking up what other people's problems are with it. I don't have any and that's fine.
I really like MP Tracks, he is one of my favourites actually. I think he looks great in both modes and I found his transformation very intuitive. Mine had great QC too. My annoyance with him was how tight his legs were, crazy tight!
Yup, totally tight. I was afraid I could break something because he was so tight and I wasn't sure at first if I got the manual right.
