QFT, Soundwave84. So very well said.
because it's the original and the best!!!
[And a major thing it did different other than all other 80s cartoons (to me) was allow you to like the bad guys. Most of the other cartoon baddies were generic 'terrorists', "evil demons", or "giant monsters." But even the most diehard Autobot fan has love for Soundwave. Starscream speaks for himself. Devastator anyone?]
!!! I Like BRUTICUS !!!
The G1 Anime Cartoon is no bad, so i rank this series 2nd, Animated is #1.
my favourite series
4. Beast Wars
8.RID (I haven't really watch the series)
9.Beast Machines (Worst of all series)
i grew up on G1 and i loved it then. seeing it now it may be a bit cheesy but i still love it! and i'm now watching season 3 of beast wars and this has become my second love (after g1 that is)
[NITPICK]Unless you're referring to any of the Japanese TF series, the G1 Cartoon wasn't anime. It may have been animated overseas by Japanese animation studios, but show itself was produced in the good ol' USofA. Just because a show fits into the giant robo/mecha anime genre, it doesn't automatically make it anime.[/NITPICK]
Oh man. Not again.
The 86 Movie gave TF's the staying power for me. It was different than anything I had seen before. Everyone dies, most killed in cold blood. Megatron blasting Ironhide on the shuttle was when I kinda knew I would always love transformers. All the parents were dragging their kids out at that point, the rest left when Prime died and everyone in the theater started crying. My best friend and I looked at each other and just said, awesome.
I just recently got the G1 dvd set, and I'm having a blast! I was in my early teens when Transformers first aired. I didn't see every episode, didn't have any of the toys, but of all the cartoons that were out--Transformers was the one that caught my eye. Giant alien robots disguised as vehicles--kick butt! My mom even thought it was cool. (She had a massive v.a. crush on Prime lol)
Spot-the-animation-error has become a fun game with me and my sister. A variation on that is Starscream-or-other-seeker-with-Screamer's-paintjob?.
It's all about the fun, folks.
it's the root of the plastic crack tree, i climb it everyday, Tally ho!
G1 was just the first series. I have the whole series on DVD and I have been aware of the errors in it. The animation is exactly what it should be. The writers were still learning how to use animation for a whole series.
So don't blast G1 beacuse of its errors. That's what makes it so memorable.
This conversation has now made me want to watch the show hey i think i will
Sounds like a plan to me! Time to break them out.
I love G1 mainly out of nostalgia and character designs. The old toon dilogue beats the crap out of a lot of the new series recently too imo.
Quoted the very first post for truth.
For me, this is where it all started.
This was the cartoon I had to rush home from school to see. This was the comic book I collected religiously. These were the toys I asked Santa for.
Now that I look back... pretty much nothing has changed from then until now.
This is the cartoon I rush home from work to see (Yay Animated!). These are the comic books I collect. These are still the toys I ask Santa for.
I used to wake up at 5 in the morning to watch it on tv. That's a big thing for a 3rd-grader.
I don't care that the plots were incredibly cliche, or that the writing and dialogue was cheezy, or that there were more animation errors than a low budget art school project, it's the origional Transformers, and I loved it to death when I was 6.
I actually feel bad for the kids growing up now, cartoons don't have half the character they did when I was growing up. Sure, it's better animated, and the plots make a little more sense (barely), but they missed out on growing up with a true classic.
When I pop those DVD's in I am a child again, and it's wonderful. Same thing happened with the live action movie. The second Peter Cullen's voiceover began I was a kid again, and they had to try and ruin it for me (which wasn't happening).
