I was able to pick up Silverbolt at the NJCC over the weekend, and I have to say I really enjoy the figure. While it has a very simplistic transformation and you can see him from the underside, but other then that he looks like silverbolt in his alt and in his bot mode.

So why did so many people recommend against getting him?

because people want overcomplicated things that are no fun over a fun figure

silverbolt is a fantastic figure in play value, transforms in a few seconds, big, gots lights and sounds, he is perfect for kids, unlike overcomplicated piles of plastic that kids can't figure out how to transform

silverbolt gets more hate than he deserves

The toy's good, but just not $30 good. I got the Darkwind repaint for $20 and I'm happy with it.

Maybe I'm in the blue with this one, but I'e always regarded it and seen it regarded as a pretty "perfect" classics upgrade minus the gray color-scheme.

On top of that, his "simple" mold also gives us Darkwind and Skyfall which, with Renderform's Upgrades, become hands down two of the greatest classics updates to date.

So, I dunno. Don't see the mold put down at all. Personally, it's turned out to be one of the best things Hasbro's put on our shelves.

I have Silverbolt and Darkwind (never did find Skyjack), I don't mind him at all. I think the "jet on a robots back" transformation really set people off, his robot mode however is excellent.

I don't like him because I don't like combiner characters that don't combine. And also robot blatantly glued to the underside of a jet, but that can't really be helped due to his design.

I agree somewhat. I think the figure itseld is nice but I didn't rush to buy it because he's a leader of a combiner team with no team.

I'm not the biggest fan of the mold because he wears his jet mode on his back in bot mode and vice versa.

Yeah, I got him for $15. So maybe that adds to it for me.

I am on the IDW kick. I think he looks dead on with the IDW comic and in the comic, he wasn't part of any combiner team (at least the one I am up to).

I actually think the classic figures are based on the IDW comics for the most part, and they do a good job with that.

In the comics, he was just as big, so his scale really doesn't bother me.

I love the mold, perfect for the character, Silverbolt always struck me as a little bit camp and the hands on the hips pose works perfectly for this figure.

He is the only classics ultra class I have left and plan on keeping. I really dig him. I don't mind the plane on the back thing his robot mode is pulled off nice.

    I don't hate on Silverbolt.

I personally passed him up because he was expensive, little discernable improvement over the original... and didn't combine.

As much as I like Silverbolt (and I do- he's just fun to transform and play with!), I don't deny this :lol .

Because I expect a more complicated TF schema from an ultra figure. I don't care how accurate to the original toy he was.

Other way around, fella. IDW bases their designs on the classics toys.

It's half and half no? I mean Blurr came in the comic first then the toy. Not sure when this silverbolt was released and when the comic was released though.
