I think he looks great, but I am going to wait for the Blurr repaint, I have no connection to this character, and want guns not swords, that's all I have a "problem" with.

But it's really just that I don't want 2 versions of this particular mold.

 

I've never seen any hate on the toy.

Some people don't think it's as awesome as most of us (myself included) think it is, but I've never seen anyone say or infer that it's actually a BAD toy.

Well, I don't know the character at all, but the toy certainly looks awesome. And, since I don't plan on getting Blurr because I think he looks positively fugly, I can't wait to pick up this figure. Oh, and is it just me (since I don't know the character) or does his head look a lot like Tigatron? I'm thinking about doing my first repurposing and calling him G1 Tigatron, because that's all I see when I look at his face.

 

Urgh! Pet peeve! You know that kanji the Drift toy has on it? It says "Samurai".

I definitely see it. The face doesn't match (Tigatron had a feline face) but the helmet kinda works. It also meshes with the Japanese portrayal of Tigatron who interpreted him as a ronin type.

 

Know what? All I'd seen of his face were blurry pics up until now, so I decided to check his gallery on Seibertron, which got me disappointed. All this time I was under the impression that his blocky chin guard thing was his lower lip, leading me to believe that his face looked very similar to Tigatron's. This figure just got considerably less cool to me.  

 

I've seen hate for the character but not the toy.

 

So I wasn't the only one that saw that, haha.

Give his car some corny white tiger deco, and call it good.

 

I was tempted to pick up Drift today but stopped short. I just don't like the mold so much. Picked up a HA Jazz instead.

 

I want a Drift figure. I've seen and heard mostly good things about it. I have read his IDW Spotlight issue, but it doesn't stand out as memorable, because I... well, don't remember much of it. Besides Kup being in it, and he (Drift) was once a 'con.

 

He's great.

As for Leader SS, I ain't interested in him at all.

 

I like this figure quite a bit. He's been posed on my desk like he is about to decap Thrust.

I'm super excited for the Blurr redeco.

 

This topic title confuses me. I've never seen anyone hate on the drift toy. some people don't want it, but I havent seen anyone hate on it.

 

I just want to know where the OP get the assumption that a lot of people hate the toy.

 

Pretty understandable really, especially with all the bitching about the character 


Personally, I'm pretty surprised at the love the toy is getting. My brother has it, and it wasn't a big deal, maybe I'm spoilt by Leader ROTF Prime.

 

I don't know. No offense to the OP and maybe it's just me, but I usualy do some research before posting new threads.

 

That reminds me of a story from back when I was really new to the toy collecting aspect of Transformers. I came pretty close to posting a thread asking whether Animated Mixmaster or Scrapper's toys had pegs that could be used as combiner/connector points for a potential Devastator toy. Boy, I was glad I checked the wiki before I posted that, I would have looked mighty silly!

 

If there is anything to hate about Drift the toy, it's the plastic of his long sword, it's too flexible.

Caracterwise i love a "turned good hitman"  

 

i don't hate the character but i just don't relate to him at all. and from pictures, i know drift's mold is kick-ass so i'm picking up the blurr repaint.
