Have any of you guys ever wanted a particular Transformer, even when it doesn't have any apparent reason or qualities as to why you'd like it?

This has just happened to me with both ROTF Voyagers, Demolishor and Mixmaster figures. They both, on the surface, look kinda crap to me, but alas, I find myself oddly wanting to buy them.

    WTF is happening?

Most recently, it happend to me with ROTF Demolishor and Rampage. I had absolutely no plans to purchase any of the Constructicons, but when I saw them in person I knew I was going to buy them.

The only thing I can say is it has to be the call of the plastic crack, man! :lol

I've held Sol Fury's Demolisher after he opened it and tf'd it, and can't think of a reason to buy him. Just really don't like the figure. and really limited on poses imo

Mixmaster is much better to me, and the altmode is really nice as well

have them both, and like them both.

But for the life of me, I wonder how KIDS will be able to transform some of these ROTF toys. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I tried last night and finally got it this morning in transforming Leader Prime. Very cool, but very complicated!

I love the design of Demolisher. quite unique compared to most other transformers. the only thing I was disapointed with is his lack or arm posability.
I was less impressed with Rampage to start with but now i kinda like the crabby look he has going on.

I've been thinking a lot about Demolishor lately and think that the only thing cool about him is the fact his threads turn into wheels which I think is actually pretty cool. But I still think he's made of fail.

Breakaway. he's just another jet, so why bother?
    but he's growing on me.

saw the review of Depthcharge and feel the plastic crack DT's knocking at my door on him, too.

That's just it, all my usual toy robot tastes are out the window. I don't disagree with your statement of "fail", but yet, I still want it!

I really don't want Sideways or The Fallen. But I know the 2nd I have money burning a hole in my pocket and there is nothing else I want, I'll end up buying one, if not both

Yep, yep, yep. I got Sideswipe the other day, and was so impressed, I now want to get Sideways for pretty much no reason other than his sleek car mode and to battle Sideswipe. Never had intention of getting him before, but now that the line is out, and people are posting pictures and I'm engulfed by the figures in person everytime I go to the store, I start wanting to buy stuff I can't afford. Not the first time either.

So yes, I sympathize with you. :)

With the exception of Sideswipe, which is freakin awsome, to me the scouts outclass the deluxes by a landslide. I haven't seen a scout yet that i didn't like, with the exception of that bug doctor thing if he is indeed a scout like i thought.

    ah

I know it also happens when you see online reviews/pictures, I would see a toy sometimes and be like I am never getting that then all the sudden I see some online info and I am like oooh I have to get that.

This usually happens ages after the toy is scare in the stores and usually makes a frantic search of where I remember seeing it last occur.

Yeah, in my opinion, Demolishor is a shit toy. He's very small, even for a voyager figure, his robot mode (albeit cool in the movie) looks shit as a plastic toy, he lacks articulation, the wheels don't really work, and finally, now it seems the colors are off too from the movie model!
BUT I BOUGHT HIM, and I really like messing around with him in shovel mode.

Yeah it could be that the alt mode is done well, but I also suspect his - he's looks awesome in the movie! We've all had to use our imaginations since day one for Transformers, so even though Demolisher is weird you always think back to thee images in the trailers. You'll be glad you bought him once you see the movie.

I'm still not compelled to buy him though.

I know what it is. It's a desire to collect ROTF toys before they sell out. I've been getting the feeling that toys I pass on now will be rare later.

Or it could be the plastic crack. :lol

I like Demolishor, but I'm holding off for now. He's just a little small and not as impressive at a Voyager pricepoint as some others. I could see myself caving for him though. Only ones out so far I don't see my self buying are Rampage, Breakaway, and the Voyager repaints. And who knows, maybe I'll warm to some of those.

I'm not made of money dammit. :(

I'd say that's pretty much how I felt about Armada. The show was a mess, and the toys were to simple. But, I loved them both! Right from the start in seeing the early shots of the toys that the line was going to be a huge step back from Car Robots (which I was in pure love with). Yet at the same time I was drawn to them and was very excited about the line. Then the show started, and I felt let down by it's quality.... but I some how looked past that and found great enjoyment in having a new show. Even today I LOVE the Armada toys and believe that above all other lines I'd buy repaints of those figures. I had more fun collecting Armada than I did with RID. ...

With the next two series Energon and Cybertron, which had much better toys... I had little to no fun collecting 'em. I slogged my way through Energon almost by habbit, forcing myself to like them even a just a little. I really was just about to give up on Transformers all together, until news of the live action movie came along.

Armada is an anomaly. Wonky show + toys riddled with gimics , some how equals pure bliss. Maybe I just really liked the characters? But, for what ever reason I found the whole thing awsome and couldn't get enough of it.
