I'm sure the Dinobots do speak. But they can't speak earth languages because they haven't learnt through the internet like the others.

Prime spoke both cybertronian and English to the dinobots so back to the drawing board on why they didn't talk i guess.....

 

Makes you wonder how the dinobots understood what Optimus Prime was saying in English.

 

Maybe they didn't want to talk? Grimlock's thinking in his head, "Fuck you robo-jesus! I just got freed from a handsome-Squidward lookin' ass bounty hunter right now man! Have you ever considered that maybe having an unwanted conversation and getting riden on by a random stranger, is in fact NOT on my to do list for today?! Y'know what? I don't even want to talk to you right now!"

And that's why the Dinobots don't talk

 

Would have thought they would have at least been introduced as a part of a story running alongside the plot....instead optimus suddenly pulls it randomly out the bag, and we are left to mull over the details like its an episode of the a-team and they just built a stealth bomber in dairy farms barn.

 

Probably Bay was too lazy to get voice actors

 

Because they would have to hire voice actors and come up with lines for them to say and flesh them out a bit.

The Dinobots were all included at the last second, it'd be too much for work, even though they should have.

 

Naw, they could have just asked Mark Ryan or John DiMAggio do their voices. You've seen how Bay is: voice continuity isn't a strong suit for him. Even that little bit with Leadfoot getting killed didn't sound like him.

 

I quite liked the 'strong and silent' approach. Seemed pretty befitting to their bestial nature and was a lot less cartoonish than having them talk like Captain Caveman.

They should probably start talking if they're in the next one though.

 

I agree. That video of the guy doing the toy voices now after seeing them in the film i would love them to sound like that!! But yes beast nature of the dinobots was good....the lack of identity for them other than for those who knew what they were seeing...very very baaad!!! As if you didn't know what a dinobot is which a youngster may not....then the film did nothing for you when they were unveiled....

 

All I wanted to hear was one word from Grimlock, "GRIMLOCK", and I would have forgiven all the movie negatives. Thats all. Not even that.

 

Because there was only 20 minutes left of film. It's better that they didn't force in another introdump; having them silent doesn't require an in-context explanation.

 

Plus, has anyone thought that, despite not speaking in this film, they're setting up the Dinobots' story-line fir the next film? Like they did with Galvatron.

 

I think that was confirmed to be the case.

 

Cause voice actors ain't cheap when you only got a billion$ to play with.....
