Really? Personally, I think Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is their greatest, but meh.

The reason everyone loves them so much now is because they broke up, IMO.

I'm reminded of Apollo 13, where the daughter was obsessed with the Beatles through out the whole movie. Lol.

I dunno about music (but I'm guessing you're right), but the same thing recently happened to Red Dwarf. And Doctor Who has been a parody of itself for ages now. At least Fawlty Towers had sense to end before rot set in.

We'll never have to concern ourselves with a Beatles comeback tour though.

I dunno. He has more followers today than they do. Sadly, they were probably right when they made that statement, but they didn't have the staying power.

As for the fight, let's use a board relevant analogy. Could the dinobots beat Unicron by themselves? They'd be just as outmatched.

yeah, i agree. i hate it when people tell me that Kurt Cobain was the greatest guitarist to ever live. NO. not even close.

and if you want to know why the beatles broke up, ask Yoko Ono

I had to go and check your profile on this one. You're two years younger than me, so I think I qualify as being part of your generation. On that basis, I can only assume that no one much gave a crap when Hendrix or Morrison died either. I think I've met maybe one person of around my age who gave a damn about Cobain. Is that what you meant to suggest?

Yeah, I was fourteen when Cobain killed himself. I loved Nirvana. Still do. Nevermind was one of the first albums that I ever really got dug into my early teens and discovered on my own. More importantly, It wasn't my parent's music. His death was a great lost as musical voice of our generation just as Hendrix, Morrison, or Joplin was a great loss to that generation. I don't think it is fair to say that no cares, but time moves on ya know. Its been fifteen years so the impact has faded over time like everything in history, but back then I remember girls at my school balling tears the next day over it. People were crushed. Now, yeah, no really gives a damn, just another dead artist, but regardless, his death was still a great lost to music.

And Poho, I'd never claim that Cobain was one of the greatest guitarists ever. A good guitarist, yes.

Oh, back in the day. Let's see, if you were 14 at the time, I'd have been 16. Hmm...

... nope. Don't remember anyone giving a damn then, either. I remember there was a fair amount of discussion when Freddie Mercury died, but nothing about Cobain. Don't think I even heard of him until a few years later, and then mainly through jokes about shotgun suicide.

Bands like Nickelback, Creed and Hinder are overrated.

The Beatles were Amazing as was Nirvana. Both great examples of revolutionary artistes that changed music.
Queen, one of my Favorite bands, is a great example of how our society has changed. Freddy M was ugly as sin, but an amazing singer. It really pisses me off that nowadays being a good singer means being the best looking.

I'll back Smkspy up and say that my school also had people mourning Cobain, and I was still in middle school.

Hell the cute rock chicks wrote R.I.P. Kurt Cobain on my science book.

They've splitted because John Bonham died.
No, wait, I'm thinking of a much better band.

How did Nirvana enter this thread? And why are the Beatles even being compared? From a musical standpoint, the Beatles are gods, and Nirvana was....just a band that refused to play metal. Any idiot can play Nirvana. Ever seen a Beatle chord book? Can anyone tell me how to write a 4 piece vocal harmony?

Listen to Nowhere Man. The beginning. That is really hard to do. And it lasts for 3 measures, and it rules!

Nirvana is a comparable band that was popular in the 90's. It is also not about how difficult the music is to play. If that was a measure on how popular a band was, Mozart would have won many a MTV award.

Also, some younger folks who were not around during that time don't understand the impact that these bands had on Music.
