Why did ratchet prime for losing cybertron when it was all his fault! If he had used the space bridge to get the kids like they wanted they would not have been kidnapped and cybertron would have been restored.

I hope they have ratchet feel guilty over this and maybe try to deal with it next season.

He had a really emotional scene in the last episode but in the end it was all his fault! Can't blame someone else for your screwup. This could make some interesting character growth for him in next season.

    What do you guys think?

I place the blame on Prime.

He was the one that didn't want the kids to know what was taking place. He could of allowed Arcee, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead to inform them and to had them at the base before they left.

Ratchet is the only Autobot that hates (too strong a word) Earth. He's ready to go. Just a few episodes before the finale, we saw the Autobots talking about how leaving Earth was going to be hard or how they didn't want to go, how they made friends and family here. Ratchet was talking about how Cybertron needs builders and how they could text humanity from afar.

Cybertron was in their grasp and it slipped away. It didn't just slip away, but they lost it to their humanity, something Ratchet disproves of. I don't think he hates humans, Raf and the other children have won him over (to some degree), but he still thinks of humans as lesser things, and our technology as inferior machines.

His time in the base hasn't given him ample time to educate himself with his new home or allies. It really is too bad that he couldn't have been pared with June or some other human and time outside of the base to let him see their new home and benefits. Looks like season 3 will be that story.

Did you know...Ratchet isn't their mother, Ratchet didn't bring them to the base and it was Fowler who has been in charge of guarding the families after the Decepticons have discovered their locations.
With the same success you can blame everyone, who didn't run to save some random children. And we don't know from where the children were kidnaped.
The only kind of things you can blame Ratchet is that he didn't tread upon the children the first time he saw them and the second thing is that he didn't tear Arcee's wheels off after she failed to follow her disguise. For the last one you can blame Ratchet that he hadn't made Prime mute and disabled to make more problems for Ratchet.
And then you can blame Optimus Prime, who didn't send children far away from the deal, when they were no interest to the Decepticons.
"I hope" you will "feel guilty over" the fact that you didn't write another plot for this episode.

Ratchet didn't want any animals around him - they are not his duty.
When a teenager wants a dog, you can tell him:"Fine, but it will be all your duty from the beggining to the end".
Ratchet "rent" the base with other Autobots. When they decided to bring some pets, Ratchet needed to say "Yes", but that's all. The rest is a duty of the "owners".

No, but he knows how important they are to his team and the bond that binds them.

I understand how important the moment was, but Ratchet dismissed the children without thought. Cybertron was more important than them. While the rest of the team was willing to place their friendship above the rejuvenation of their home, Ratchet showed that he would have done the opposite. This is who he is, he's that uncle in the family family members are embarrassed to talk about, but love him anyway.

This humbling experience is really going to make him or break him. Will he come around like the rest of his team has or will it be too much for him to move on? Wheeljack's about them always being on the same team, despite their differences, gives me hope that he, like Wheeljack, will finally come around too.

I thought, they didn't sacrifice them, because they are humans. That wasn't about friendship and family?
Anyway, they cannot afford personal matter to be the first place. They are fighting a war and must be ready to sacrifice anything they involve. But they are double- standarded, as always.
We see now that the Prime's philosophy came to the dead end. They should accept that the Decepticons should rule. the Autobots are not resolute enough to be on top of the world.

You might say that it is good not to involve humans, but it would be a lie, because they will never be able to follow their own words.
The Bots cannot support their own ideals and there is nothing they will ever be able to protect. As long as they exist, there always be harm, coming from another one. Prime is a disaster to any place he goes.

Considering it was Starscream's idea in the first place to kidnap the kids, I'd say the Autobots were expecting Megatron's ego and arrogance, not Screamer's pragmatism and exploitation.

Probably one of the reasons why he decided to stay after Ratchet left.

Both, really. We have the Autobots calling them family just a few episodes before the finale. There is no deny that Jack, Miko and Raf have earned a special spot in the hearts of the Autobots.

Optimus was placed in a difficult spot. How does he let the person (people really) that save his team lives and his own when they were powerless to do so themselves? Humanity gave them shelter, equipment, allies and friendship. How do you spit in the face of that, especially when it offers up one last sacrifice at the very end (Jack and Miko spoke of sacrificing themselves one last time when the Decepticons threatened to open the canisters)?

Freedom is the right of all sentient beings. There is no way in hell Optimus or the Autobots was going to stand there and allow the children to remain Decepticon captives, no matter the situation. The fight was lost the moment the children were brought on.

While the children's friendship has given the Autobots something to fight for, strengthen their bond to their new home an allies, their connection will always be their kryptonite--as this is a children's show, they aren't going to go anywhere.

Optimus wants to save everything and everybody. Unless he's willing to allow the US military or the worlds for that matter to assist him in his cause, he may lose every battle yet to come. He can save everyone and win the war.

    Didn't we do this already?

    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-prime-discussion/700467-ratchet-why-you-so-awesome.html

Anyway, I can't say whose fault the whole fiasco was but I really despise Ratchet for being a jerkass in this continuity. It's one thing to be practical and tell anyone, even Optimus Prime when they're wrong, but it is quite another to covet the return of your homeworld over the lives of three infants (the impression is that he'd have let them die to get back Cybertron, which makes Ratchet a jerkass).

He got a great scene when Raf fell ill ("Curse my Cybertronian pride! I have grown to need him..."), but he seems to have forgotten all about that little episode. I mean, what's going on with him?

Prime made the call to destroy his own planet. Frankly, I am with Ratchet on this. Keep in mind that the Decepticons knew where the Autobot base was anyway so even if Ratchet had space bridged the kids out, the Decepticons would know right where to find them.

Optimus took the keys and destroyed Cybertron. Ratchet has a very good reason to be mad, but I don't think it is his fault. Optimus made the call to destroy Cybertron and Ratchet, was shocked and disappointed by it.

In this continuity? He was grumpy in G1 and not much changed in Animated. The movie is a different beast, but Ratchet in cartoons has, to my knowledge, always been like this.

Think about that comparison for a second, planet or 3 kids?.. Planet, or 3 kids?.. PLANET, or 3 kids? OP screwed the pooch (even if the writers will "miracle" their way out) and Ratchet has every right to be upset.

Well, If it was my planet I sure as hell would want to save it instead of the kids, but that's just me.

So i see Ratchet's frustration. Is it his fault? hell nah. Everybody's actions had a part in this battle being lost. (Don't reply and ask me to name them) In fact the loss was inevitable. Since Prime is the leader a lot of the blame can be put on him, but not him alone. I'm sure Prime was the one who told the bots not to involve the humans with this mission, so Ratchet ignoring the children was just orders.

Everybody makes mistakes and some can cost you a hell of a lot. That's what happened here.

I'd like to make a note: Ratchet does know about their feelings, but neither the team spirit, neither the necessity of the Autobots joint residence makes him a slave to the other Autobots' wishes.
He can care about them and can not care- this is his choice, which he should have. This is a compromise, unlike the slavery of the Autobots joint residence.
And I do not remember seeing the other members caring about Ratchet's feelings much. They even broke his equipment. Being that twisted, (if I was that twisted, I would say): if Ratchet broke Miko's bones, they would be even with BulkHead.

Well it was either, Megatron gets political power or three "family" members die. He didnt really say anything about cyberforming to prime before the deal was made did he? I could be wrong though...

Cybertron was already destroyed! By the actions of not only the Decepticons but the Autobots as well during the war. Its a dead planet. That's why both sides abandoned it. They didn't even know it could be restored until the message from Alpha Trion about the Key's and the Omega Lock. Optimus did the right thing in destroying the Omega Lock. He didn't destroy Cybertron, it was already dead.

Prime chose to listen to Alpha Trion and keep secrets from the rest of the Autobots and because of that, caused the kids to remain in the dark of what was transpiring. On top of that, regardless of the situation, Optimus destroyed the one guaranteed way to revive their planet...even if it was a beneficial move to stopping the cons, it was stilla devastating blow to someone expecting to have their home revived...Ratchet had all the right to snap on Prime and everyone else. What Prime did was right, but the events up to it could have been handled better...but alas, Prime's vow to protect all humanity and whatnot overshadowed what could have been done.
