Im always wondering it myself since early 2000...... we are always having things like Prime being a truck and red, but has some elements that make him different from his 1984 counterpart.....Megatron cant be a gun anymore..... I wish we could have a line like the MOTUC for MOTU fans (OK, I know what you will say) but without the wsod every single month and the quality issues.

We kinda already have somewhat of a line:

    Classics/Henkei/Universe/Generations.

This is confusing. There have been a lot of reissues for g1 figures (tfc, tru reissues, encore). Or do you mean a line like the classic, universe, generations?

Um, we have Classics dude. Do you mean something like that but even MORE like G1? As in every Alt-mode is the same, rather than made into a new design?

Yes, why can't we have a definitive G1 line on top of Classics, Universe, Henkei, Generations, and Reissues? It's like they don't even care about Beast Wars... I mean G1!

Classics/Generations is as good as you're going to get, with Masterpiece being the ultimate version of certain key figures every few years.

The problem is that they can't re-release every G1 figure in a single year. Business basically makes them release only a certain amount of figures every year. So the problem ends up being that the line has to refresh every year or so. Its why the "classics" line has sort of changed every few years from Universe to classics to classics 2.0, to generations, and in some cases, a few figures being tossed into HFTD. Its actually pretty amazing that Hasbro has kept the line fairly in scale these past years. Typically you end up having the line refreshed, and the new line's figures are a different size/scale compared to other years.

I'm happy with the way the lines are set up now. Its G1 enough for me!

Classics tries to do that, but also makes a lot of needless changes just for the heck of it.

The Masterpiece line on the other hand has been pretty much just straight G1.

For most characters, I'd prefer the pure G1 approach. Call me gee-wunner all you like. When they change stuff it can be hit and miss. I absolutely love what they did with Mirage and Hound, but I've never liked Voyager Optimus, or Onslaught.

Pretty much straight G1? You have a pretty weird idea of what is straight G1.

Masterpiece line is very much G1, somewhere between the way the characters looked in the cartoon, and the original toys. They don't merely go with something similar, they go straight to the source. What's don't you get?

Yeah, straight to the source. I can barely tell which is which.

Yea, I gotta say, as much as I take jabs at Beasties, etc, I would say that us G1ers have it pretty damn good and can't complain that we arn't getting shown enough love.

I will admit it, fans of other lines have 10,000 more reason to complain than us G1ers.

I've got the definitive G1 line. It ran from 1984-1990. Any updates, homages or previously-fiction-only characters are just a happy bonus.

    No complaints! :D

perhaps "rodimusconvoy" wants a main line & not all these side lines based off G-1 updated homages.

I myself would love a full blown main line type "generations" TF G-1 toy line. that was backed up by a brand new cartoon series. also had toys released in every size level like basics, deluxe, voyager, ultra, leader & supreme.

My perfect G-1 inspired homage/update main line/cartoon would be centered during/after season 4. this way we get updated homages from 1984,1985,1986,1987 & so forth. BECAUSE having just the ark transformers would be booring. I liked a bunch of season 3 & 4 transformers more than the ark transformers.

I won't deny it, I would love a line where most of the character designs were heavily inspired by the animation rather than doing other stuff such as following the original toy line too much, changing the head too much like prowl or adding extraneous mechanized details that ruin the look ie ironhide.

You didn't read what he said at all did you, he said somewhere between referencing the animation and the old toy, not just the toy. Seems like your arguing for the sake of arguing rather than trying to make a point.

I read him perfectly. He thinks Classics/Universe/Henkei/Generations make too many unnecessary changes, but also said Masterpiece gets it right.

Masterpiece has quite a few changes and doesn't perfectly represent the animation model and G1 toy. The Universe/Classics Starscream actually does that better.

So his whole perception of things is backwards and the concept of returning to G1 is ridiculous when they've been revisiting it for the past few years now, repeatedly.

I think Geewunners have it the best out of all the fans:

    G1 Original Line
    Encore
    Commemorative Series (Toys R Us)
    Universe Toys R Us exclusives
    SDCC Exclusives
    Masterpiece
    Certain Botcon Exclusives
    Certain Club Exclusives
    Classics 1.0
    Henkei
    Universe 2.0
    Generations
Any other lines that have figures with great homages (e.g. Cyberton Excellion)

What else do you want seƱor?

I think the Beast Wars guys have been the best sports about not getting more revamped figures.

BTW, we need more Geetoo (G2)!

We already have enough G1 stuff being released in Generations as it is...

I'd prefer some new G2, Beast Wars and Beast Machines toys... would be nice to see some of those in the Generations line...
