The mold has specific tab clearance issues that makes it very, very difficult and frustrating to get the alt. mode to tab together without crumpling into a squished car. While sanding can somewhat fix the problems, it isn't a perfect solution and such a problem should have been caught in prototyping anyway.

He also doesn't come with his slingshot weapon despite having 5mm socket hands. If you want his accessory, the best option is the perfectly sized slingshot "Y" gun...that came with GDO Deluxe Wheelie (retool of RtS Jazz) from several years ago that many passed on specifically because they didn't want an Orange Jazz with Wheelie's head.

 

I like him, but he should have been better made.

I'd hate Hasbro Wheelie for the crappy colors if I had him.

I think Bumblebee is a worse toy than Wheelie, and that's only because he's a fiddly toy to hold together transforming to vehicle mode, but its possible and not frustratingly so.

I have the Hasbro version, and I had to file some bits down to get him to tab together properly in car mode. Having said that I still think he's awesome, a great update to the G1 toy... much better than the GDO Deluxe. And suitably different from the Universe Legion release too!

 

I think the problem is that there was a first wave that sucked.

Me, I got him much later... and mine is tight, transformers really well, and is solid. He is a great little bot.

 

I solved the problem by just owning both. No need to choose!

 

He's tricky to get into vehicle mode and people have no patience. I have no trouble transforming him and the vehicle mode holds together just fine without alterations if you know what you're doing. Also have no problem with the Hasbro version. I like that the orange is broken up a bit and the details are highlighted better. The Legends deco looks more like it fell out of a thirty year old cartoon which is fine if that's what you want, but if something can look better I prefer that it did. Plus that clear windshield just looks cheap to me.

 

That sounds suspiciously like a 'you're all doing it wrong' post. FYI, later versions of Wheelie (and the Legends one) had their tolerances fixed. The first release one are the ones that simply do not tab together properly without alteration. And this is coming from a dude who's collected as an adult since 2000, so I'd like to think 'I know what I'm doing'.

 

Even in the first release, it was a crapshoot; some worked, some didn't. I was lucky, I got Wheelie right away, and mine is fine.

 

That's possible, but I've seen a lot of cases (especially lately) where transformers are told to have technical issues that they actually do not because people haven't figured out how to transform them.

For a small figure Wheelie is complicated. Took me awhile to figure it out myself, needed help from videos and everything. I can see people getting easily confused and passing harsh judgement.

This is a community that swore up and down there are literally no paint apps on TR Sentinel Prime, which is a blatant lie. The same community that swears TR Alpha Trion looks nothing like the character despite the fact that he directly referrences the only two figure designs he's ever had, no matter how many times you point them to the pictures. The same community that said TR Galvatron's head doesn't turn with the crown when it does, or that TR Powermaster Optimus Prime isn't red, when his deco matches just about every other official release of the character.

So you'll have to excuse me if I don't want to give this community the credit in assuming the issue is with the figure rather than them. This community lies frequently, especially when it comes to Titans Return.

 

Hmm. Fair enough. I'm not sure anyone can claim TR PMOP isn't red though... what do they say? He's orange?

 

I really like Wheelie in his robot mode...but I agree that his car mode falls apart if you breath too close to it.
