I love the contrast and color pallete, as well as how dark and moody he can be. To me, it adds weight to story. I can't post anything, as I don't keep a collection of his work, but for referecnes, see see all 4 Chaos issues, or all of autocracy.

Interesting. Thanks for your input. I agree that Livio can paint a dark murky environment like no one else. I think his stuff worked best when the transformers went to the dead universe.

Whoever did Heart of Darkness. I don't know what their other work is like but hooo-boy, were they not suited to Transformers. Aside from the wonky proportions in general, the way they drew Galvatron's cannon was fucking whack.
Andrew Wildman's robots-with-gross-human-faces-and-hands style from the Marvel G1 comics is straight up repulsive as well.

The Dead Universe stuff was beautifully handled. Here's one of his that I love: Devastator vs Dinobots-Color. Looking through it all now, I can see how people wouldn't like his work.

As far as least favorite goes, I'll echo other sentiments and point to Marvel G1... I read the entire UK series recently, but I honestly couldn't wait to be done just to get away from that art...

I guess that entire situation would be considered a conspiracy theory as well. Especially since a lot of that news, at least initially, wasn't known outside of the initial leaks; and it was only after Figueroa was working on that other mech project that he started to spill the beans.

Unfortunately, I don't think Figueroa will ever go back to IDW. I can't say I entirely blame him either.

I hate to jump on a bandwagon ... but it's Livio by a mile. There have been other consistently subpar artists, but the fact that IDW has leaned so heavily on Livio means that I've come to actively associate him with corner-cutting.

    I agree completely.
In my desired world, Hasbro and IDW make things right with him.
    Once again.....dreams;)

I have skipped every Livio issue since Dark Cybertron. Dude just can't do anything out of his comfort zone. His work hasn't really seemed to improve much since he first started drawing for IDW either. Hearts of Darkness' artist was a right mess, but I think I remember seeing the guy draw humans for something else and it looked alright.

    Also Oh man, this guy.

This and whoever did most of Dark Cybertron are my least favorite artists.

The artist who did Revolution was not my favorite, but I've grown accustomed to it.

This is a HUGE unpopular opinion, but I don't mind Livio. I can see what's happening, and I don't mind the dark and gritty feeling.

Edit: I also REALLY like Pat Lee's art style, but that's just me.

Kind of agree with this idea too....

Changing title to reflect BOTH choices. :)

    Best
Alex Milne. Do I even need to explain my answer?

    Worst
I know he's gotten a mention already, but that guy who drew Heart of Darkness. I haven't even been bothered to learn his name. I try not to judge artists too harshly because even the worst of them have way more skill than I do, but I look at HoD and genuinely think I could draw a better book than that, and I certainly wouldn't call myself a professional level artist by any stretch of the meaning. It's really that bad, and it baffles me that an editor thought that was okay to send to print.

I mean, just look at that. That's the very first page of the series. Look at that bottom panel. Can you genuinely tell me that that is in anyway good comic book art? If you picked this book up for the first time knowing nothing about IDW's Transformers, would you want to keep reading after seeing this page?

    Transformers - Heart of Darkness 01 (of 04) (2011) (digital-Empire) 006.jpg

Also, just sneaking it in at the bottom here where no one will notice, but I'm quite the Livio fan myself.
