I was so excited when I saw Reflector announced. Went to preorder on Amazon and wth, 20 bucks for a deluxe figure? When did this happen and why is nobody complaining. The last deluxe I bought which was Perceptor was 16.99 I think and even that seem overpriced. I am hoping this is Amazon's initial price hike and it will come down close to release date

    Try here. Stop.
What the hell am I looking at? When does this happen in the movie?
Now. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now.
    What happened to then?
    We passed then.
    When?
Just now. We're at now now.
    Go back to then.
    When?
    Now.
    Now?
    Now.
    I can't.
    Why?
    We missed it.
    When?
    Just now.
    When will then be now?
    Soon.

It isn't just Amazon. The MSRP of Deluxe figures is now $20.

    Voyager figures will be $29.99

My guess is not may boardmembers are complaining (let's face it, there's always complaining around here) because the new price is relative to other brands.

Marvel Legends figures cost somewhere around $18-$20 each. And Transformers Deluxes arguably do more for your money than a Marvel Legends figure.

The price hike is old news now. It's been known for several months ahead of time.

The equivalent of $20 deluxes started with the debut of Tfs...1984!

Actually when you adjust for inflation, the price of a deluxe has gone down since 1984 (Autobot Cars being the approximate deluxe in G1)

I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm, in flap-jaw space, with the tuning fork, does a raw blink on Hiri-Kiri rock! I need scissors! 61!

gotta agree with both of these, the 84 autobot cars were the modern day equivalent of $25. plus transformers youre essentially getting 2 toys for the price of 1

Hasn't the MSRP always been higher, and it's just the stores pricing them at the lower range?

It won't surprise me if they finally listed slightly lower than they are now, but if not, I'm okay with it too. At least they all look to be standard sized Deluxes, not like the SS line.

That’s what happens when you have Walmart artificially keeping the price below msrp

Toys cost more to make than they did a decade, 2 decades ago. Studio Series started it, Siege is rolling it out.
Had that been the markup on PotP, I would have been upset. However Studio Series and Siege look like I'm getting my bucks worth. Studio Series has so far at least.

EDIT: To the point of Marvel Legends, I totally agree. I collect both lines actively and theres more playability to most Deluxe size Transformers.

I thought it was TLK that started the price hike?

it was, though honestly if you want to talk about starting the price hikes, beast machines is when deluxes went from $10 to $12

Did they? In my area they were 'normal' mid range price. 22.99 a voyager and 16.99 a Deluxe. But I totally believe it did/intended to start then. Seems it's on the table for a while but now rolling it out with confidence.

You're exactly right. Walmart and Target routinely sell Transformers for less than the MSRP. I wouldn't be surprised if Deluxes are still in the $17 to $19 range at those stores.

There are always places you can find most figures for alot less than MSRP. (Ebay, Ollie's, 5 Below, Marshall's, Ross, etc. etc. etc.)

Trust me, I'm a bargain hunter because my Transformers budget is nonexistent and even I find ways to get the figures I want.
