Megatron is now an Autobot..Shockwave is gone. Galvatron is currently the Leader.

Who would you choose to lead and why?

I think Soundwave is ultimately the best leader for them. He is rational, yet passionate about his cause and fellow 'Cons. He is logical, but still conniving and self-serving enough to put himself above the others to make him ruthless enough to do what must be done.

Soundwave is pretty much leader already, Galvatron just makes a nice figurehead for him.

Soundwave, he's pretty much the one doing all the actual leading, Galvatron's just there as a figurehead. A ridiculous, snarling, moron of a figurehead.

I agree. I am excited to see SW make his move when the time is right.

I'd like to see Galv lead the Phase Sixers or DJD.

I *want* to Hail Galvatron...but he's more of a Ronin than a leader. I don't mind him being so violent and obsessed with conquering, but he is not a leader in this timeline.

    For now?

    Soundwave.

Galvatron can be a figuerehad, at best. Him terrorising other Cons may end only with someone like Tarn fighting him. Brawn with no brain is not enough to lead Decepticons. Scorponok proved it in Monstrosity.

Overlord (provided he's alive) is nut and not very popular.

Tarn looks rather like follower than warlord on his own, happy with being subservient to worthy leaders.

Starscreams's unpopular, besides he'd rather not bother with them now when he has Cybertron.

Thundercracker's a traitor, besides he's done with Decepticons.

    Shockwave and Scorponok are dead.

Scorponok isn't dead, though, he'd just been disconnected from his original head and left as kind of a vegetable.

Just to give them an opportunity to step to the lead:

Onslaught, Hun-Grrrr, and Razorclaw are all "leaders" of their subfactions.

But how loyal they are to the Decepticon cause (as portrayed in the IDW-verse) as a rebellion against the ancient Autobot Senate?

Sixshot is still around too but he's kind of a nihlist isn't he?

Soundwave is the most loyal to the cause but he's also "uncrazimatic".

So a more charismatic leader with a vision could easily step to the fore.

(I'd have to dwell on this for a while and look up some more obscure TF's)

I thought Scorponok and Dante bugged out of Garrus-9 when Overlord came?

Seems there was also a deleted scene in which Verity would have killed Dante that never made print.

    Can I say.... "no one"?

I'd be interested in the Decepticons actually realizing the war is over, and seeing the Autobots (and some of the less evil Decepticon) fighting mostly other threats.

There was going to be a whole Scorponok sub-plot in LSOTW that also dealt with Grimlock and Nucleon, but like you said, it never came to fruition.

I really like the Galvatron-Soundwave tension leading their little idealist rump faction of Decepticons.

As for who should come back and rally the disaffected Decepticon masses of Cybertron into a properly scary villainous army? There's only one choice IMO. Scorponok.

Especially if the writers remember that Marvel Scorponok was not only a twisted mad scientist but also a noble warrior, and synthesize a really compelling version of Scorponok from the tension between the two seemingly-incompatible sides of him.

GRIMLOCK SHALL BE KING OF ALL TRANSFORMERS, DECEPTICON AND AUTOBOT ALIKE!

In all seriousness, though, I say Soundwave is probably the best call, but he's probably not charismatic enough to actually appear to be leading and probably needs someone with the proper mix of charisma and easy of manipulation to serve as a proper figurehead.
