I know this is a old question, but I didn't find convincing answers with proof through Internet. Was Unicron Trilogy intended to be the same universe, but Gonzo decided to start over; or it is Takara's idea to start over and Hasbro didn't follow?

I kind of figured that, I mean head designs for Energon and Cybertron's designs are pretty similar, same with Jetfire too.

Yeah, would expalin why the very Jetfire-looking "Dreadlock" wasn't Jetfire. Or why Megatron has very clear design cues from Unicron.

And, well, we know Hasbro planned out all the UT stories before the actual TV shows were started. (as in each series was plotted before each show, not the entire UT)

I prefer Galaxy Force/Cybertron being in its own continuity. In fact, if anything, I like to think of Galaxy Force/Cybertron as being a sequel to Car Robots/RID2000.
