Christmas is the time for giving, and I wish I had been able to do this sooner, but it will have to be a late Christmas gift this year.

I have decided to give someone $300-$500 worth of toys this year to someone I don't know.

I want to give it to someone who this gesture will mean a lot to. It might be a $400 order from BBTS to a fan who is down on his luck and can't buy the stuff he wants or me dropping off a sack of toys at a children's hospital - you will help me decide.

Here's what I want you to do: I want you to pick someone or some institution that you know of that I can give this to and as well as a short motivation as to why they deserve it - can't be yourself though, it has to be someone else.

I'm aiming to do this the first week of January when nobody expects to be given gifts, so you have about a week to help me decide.

    Thanks all who will participate.

This is such a nice gesture. I say bring gifts to the kids, it would make their day.

As a kid I had quite a few surgeries, and I can tell you it will lighten up any kid's day to have someone even visit them. But getting a present when you don't expect it, that would be amazing.

Any sort of children's charity would be good.

I donated about $200-$250 worth of unopened Transformers, Barbie stuff, and Disney Pixar Cars to Toys for Tots. Since you are waiting to January and Christmas will already be over, I would donate the toys to a Children's hospital, so the kids there would have something new to play with.

An orphanage would be a good place to start, IMHO. :)

This times 10. Spread that out amongst a lot of kids and give it all in person. It might be one of the best things you ever do

go to random walgreens and go to the toy isles.
see the parents hitting their kids reaching for those [crap] toys? give to those kids.

i always prefer to do things in person rather than donate so i know where my money goes.

I'm Unemployed and struggling to keep things going. That said I would still say Children's Hospital.

I think the best thing you could do is to bring a sack of toys to a children's hospital in a santa costume, walking around from room to room and giving out a toy or 2 to each kid you see (I guess this is dependent on the size of the children's hopsital).

The other option I would suggest is to do the above at a regular or cancer hospital that has a good amount of kids. I bet kids in regular or cancer hospitals get forgotten about over the holidays compared to those in a children's specific hospital

Jokes aside, I think youve already gotten some fantastic ideas. I second the notion of doing it person, but for the purpose of just seeing the fantastic result of being able to do such a nice thing for someone.

A collector who is down on their luck is no where near as deserving as children down on their luck.
    Children's Hospital.

Yeah I know that first hand. If not for my Mom things would have been really light for my kids this year.
