In DotM it was originally Mirage/Dino who was suppose to die but was changed to Wheeljack/Que. Who do you think should have died?

I say Wheeljack because he did not even get a released toy. At least Mirage/Dino did get a cyberverse toy the following year. I say Mirage should have lived since his toy was released. If Wheeljacks deluxe was released I say he should have lived.

 

Its just Dino, not Mirage.

 

Que's toy did get released in Japan and Asia

It would have been more logical on the decepticon's part to kill Dino...seeing that Que wasn't much of a threat. (On screen anyways)

 

According to the end credits, he is listed as Que/Wheeljack. Dino is just Dino.

 

Maybe because Dino does not have anything to do with the original Mirage in the movie. The credits of DOTM even just say he's Dino.

 

Que was the logical choice because his death garnered much more sympathy than Dino's would have, since he was old and harmless. I truly felt sad when he died; I wish he would have survived. Poor old bot.  

 

Both. Mirage by Starscream's hand so that he looks cool and does not just disappear in AOE and Wheeljack the way he did in the movie because that scene is perfect.

 

Pretty sure they were both intended to die... as hinted at by the adaption based on the earlier scripts.

Dino was at one point intended to die however due to a change to focus more on the Driller - his death was moved to being on the ground however they never filmed it. Evidence of this can be found via his head on set shown in the same place as the below image. It would have led into the scene shown with Sam and Carly following Dino to safety only for Starscream to attack



Que's death was changed from his original water death to being killed while captured in order to fill-in for Optimus who was originally going to be in the scene. His original death was going to be along the lines of falling into the river and getting torn apart by underwater Decepticons and I remember reading that part of that scene was apparently filmed, however they changed it when they realised that having a character die while captured would emphasise the threat.

 

Where's the "both" option? I love Dino, but him being killed by Starscream would've given an even greater emotional impact, especially by the way he was scheduled to die. And, it would give Starscream his first Autobot kill from onscreen.

 

So Screamer was gonna originally kill Dino in DOTM movie?

 

Que dying was just fine with me, his face design didn't have one hint of Wheeljack to me.

On a sidenote the Twins dying by Shockwave and Barricade would have been perfect too.

Unless I'm remembering wrong, Dino was supposed to be killed by Starscream, Que was killed in the river and instead of executing someone, Soundwave simply shot Leadfoot's leg off.

In the comics Dino was executed instead of Que and Que survived the whole story.

I really wish they kept Starscream offing Dino. It would've made him feel a lot more threatening as well as killing off a vapid character

I liked "Que" but Wheeljack has certainly not been on screen yet. As his own character, I thought Que was interesting and should have had more screen time, but as Wheeljack he was such a disappointment.

 

Dino. Que was way more unique and interesting.

 

Yeah, I'd have gone for a 'Both' option. Screamer taking out Dino after an epic fight would not only have been fantastic on screen, but Dino could have got some good shots in leaving Starscream severely weakened making it that much more believable that Sam takes him out.
