Lets say IDW lost the publishing license to Transformers, what other company do you think should get it?

I'd never considered there'd be a time when IDW didn't have the license!

I didn't read the comics during DW, partly because of the bloated designs and art.

Whoever has the license next has high standards to live by thanks to MTMTE and RID.

I agree, that's why i'm asking the question if any of the other publishers could do just as well.

I would have to say Dark Horse. Image itself doesn't really handle licensed properties, unless some group comes in to publish it under the Image banner so it's an automatic out. Dark Horse has shown it has a great group, and has experience publishing good licensed comics such as Star Wars, Avatar, Godzilla etc, handled by able creators. While bigger, I'm afraid Marvel and DC would just relegate it to the corner and assign bad artists and writers to it.

I'd love to see Marvel take another shot at it.

It should absolutely stay with IDW after their brilliant work with MTMTE and RID. Worst case scenario they do lose it? ... it'd be pretty nostalgic to see Marvel get the rights again. Who wouldn't want a Spider-Man/Transformers cross over?

    I think they should stay.

But if I had to choose I'd say Marvel with hopes that writers and some artist could come on board as well and that Marvel's presence would expand MTMTE/RID's popularity since it a shame these books are still only doing a little over 10K monthly.

They would have no popularity to expand, as I can tell you right now both books would end if IDW lost the license.

Marvel or DC would be far from the best choices. Neither company is interested at all in licensed properties these days, and would most likely just push TF to some far-off corner with a sub-par creative team if they got the license.

IDW, Dark Horse, and other smaller companies are willing to expand and focus on their licensed properties. Marvel and DC really aren't, not when they have their own high-selling properties.

I'm personally happy with IDW's work on the franchise for the past year, there were a few ups and downs getting to this stage but IDW is now giving us some of the best Transformers comics ever. We've got two writers who understand what makes a good Transformers story and we are getting some very interesting stories that are doing a lot more than mere retreading of the same old "Autobot-Decepticon war on Earth"

Long may IDW continue if it means more stuff in the same vein as what we've enjoyed this past year.

This is a situation I'd rather not think about.

I mean, while the comics have been a staple of the three-piece Transformers Franchise (along with the cartoon and toyline components), they kind of got forgotten about for the most part and played second fiddle to the other two aspects. Now, with MTMTE and RID, they're the best they've ever been, and considering how Hasbro also licensed the MLP comics though IDW, comics that have exceeded 90K preorders and have well over 20 unique covers for issue #1 (I wish I was making that up), I think IDW is here to stay with Hasbro's blessings.

If a big name like Marvel or DC got it, they'd probably screw it up because they don't need it. They'd change writers every 6 months. IDW hasn't been perfect in what they've done, and they've been guilty of frequent reboots, but I think the big names don't produce ANY consistency in their quality.

Optimally, it would stay with IDW. After numerous, numerous missteps, they've finally hit on a perfect set of creative teams and a great direction for both series.

Of the choices provided, I think Dark Horse would be the best bet. Marvel and DC would just bury it and licensed properties don't seem like Image's thing.

Biggest draw back to Dark Horse is they're not on Comixology, putting them in some weird backwater in the digital game. I'm voting for IDW to stay on and can't picture anyone else.
