A shelf or line of figures isn't complete without its leader! Be it who the line originally intended it to be, or a wildcard you thought looked good there, who do you have leading your shelf spaces and figure cases?

Personally, I have universe galvatron leading the decepticons and FoC jazz leading my autobots.

Primary Autobot Display: Classics Prime (even Evasion Prime answers to him)(The various Grimlocks in my collection would love to usurp, but Classics Prime made an example out of MP Grimlock by besting the Dinobot commander in melee combat)
Continuity-Displaced Autobot commandos: Generations Laser Optimus Prime
Vintage Autobot Display: Powermaster Optimus Prime
Autobot Exiles (Not displayed, but not in storage): PRiD Wheeljack

Primary Decepticon Display: IDW Megatron.... Though Generations Armada Starscream would love to find an opportunity to toss Megatron down the chasm that is our entryway stairwell and usurp.... any opportunity when the decepticon leader ISN'T being guarded by Blitzwing and Lugnut, that is.
    Vintage Decepticon Display: G1 Starscream
Decepticon Exiles(not displayed, but not in storage): PRiD Megatron

Autobots: FOC Optimus Prime, with Gen. Orion Pax's weapons.
Decepticons: IDW bomber Megatron, with Gen. Blitzwing's sword.

They both scale pretty well, and don't look too out of place in my mainly deluxe collection. Though when 2015 Gen. Leader Megatron rolls around, he's going to take IDW Megsy's place. At that point though, I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle the Autobots... FOC Prime will definitely be too small, and it'll take some convincing to make me want the 2015 Voyager Optimus... Leader Jetfire may have to step up to the plate as Autobot Leader...

Uni 2.0 Nemesis Prime has his own merry band of misfits spanning various lines.

Honestly don't have anybody leading my Autobots. Although MP Grimlock keeps trying to take the spot.

My shelves are fractured in terms of leadership :p

    Decepticons
The main leaders are Bludgeon (ROTF), Bludgeon II (NEST), Thunderwing, and Straxus.
Generations Legends Megs leads the Cyberverse and Scout Decepticons

    Predacons
Gator Megatron is the supreme commander with Gigatron and Sky Shadow as his lieutenants.

    G2 Cons/Destrons
    Leaderless :/

    Autobots
HFTD Defender Prime is the boss of the movie Bots.
WFC Prime is the boss of the TFP Bots.
Generations Laser Prime commands the CHUGRTS Bots
    Grimlock commands Grimlock :p
Ultra Magnus is a field commander and coordinator of the three Primes

    Maximals
Transmetal Primal is the Big Bot around them, with Lio Convoy as his second.

So many shelves. Through the years:

1984 Autobots Classics Shelf 1: Faith Leader in front of FP G3 Trailer. Possible replacement with Toyworld Orion when the Renderform head arrives.
1984 Autobots Classics Shelf 2: iGear Medical Specialist and Weapons Specialist.
1984 Decepticons Classics Shelf 1: United Megatron (somewhat overshadowed by Maketoys Giant). Will be replaced with Toyworld Hegemon 2.0.

1985 Autobots Classics Shelf 1: Classics Jetfire, flanked by Universe Inferno and HFTD Solar Storm Grappel. Will be replaced with Generations Jetfire.
1985 Autobots Classics Shelf 2: FOC Grimlock, with Artek Head and Blaster and Iron Factory wings. Flanked by FP Revolver and Generations Whirl
1985 Autobots Classics Shelf 3: YotH Omega Supreme w/ Maketoys Armageddon upgrade.
1985 Decepticons Classics Shelf 1: Generations Blitzwing w/ Dr. Wu head, backstopped up by United Bruticus w/ Crossfire and FP M3.

1986 Autobots Classics Shelf 1: FP Protector, backstopped up by TFC Uranos w/ Wings of Uranos.
1986 Autobots Classics Shelf 2: FP City Commander w/ Dr. Wu face, flanked by Generations Sandstorm and FP Assaulter. Will have MakeToys Guardia as the backstop.
1986 Autobots Classics Shelf 3: Takara Generations Metroplex
1986 Decepticons Classics Shelf 1: Unique Toys Maniaking, backstopped by MMC Feral Rex.

1987 Autobots Classics Shelf 1: PE Warden and Universe Hardhead w/ Headrobots upgrade, to be backstopped by Maketoys Quantron.
1987 Decepticon Classics: MMC Terminus Hexatron. Will share space with PE Deathstalker.

Movies: RotF Optimus Prime and Jetfire in combined mode.

MP Autobot Shelf 1: Hasbro MP-10 and Takara MP-08 with MP-10 Trailer backstop.
MP Autobot Shelf 2: No leader - Front ranks are MP-12, MP-17 and MP-18
MP Decepticon Shelf 1: MP-13 and FT Quakewave
MP Decepticon Shelf 2: MP-11, lording it over Hasbro Thundercracker and a self-customized Hasbro Thundercracker in Skywarp colors.

On review, that is an almost disturbing amount of 3rd Party.

Detolf shelf #1: MP-10 Optimus Prime is ordering PE Guardian to fire his anti-aircraft cannon at some 'Cons over the Horizon.

Detolf shelf #2: MP-8 Grimlock is ordering FT Scoria into battle, though is wondering why 4 human females are in front of them and why are they wearing skimpy sailor uniforms and why there are two cats around too.

Detolf shelf #3: In lieu of the absence of a Megatron, MP-10B Black Convoy is giving orders to Quakewave and MP Soundwave and his cassettes, but it is arguable whether they are really listening...

Detolf shelf #4: YotH MP-10 Prime is leading the charge while TRU MP-03 Grimlock is wondering why this Optimus looks weird.

Top of the Detolf: Retail Leader Optimus Prime is prepping the AOE Dinobots and Hound for battle. Evasion Mode Optimus thinks he should be leader instead but no one is paying attention.

20 gallon long fish tank turned to its side #1 (Seeker display shelf): MP-11 Starscream is commanding his classics seeker army, which includes three other Starscreams who think they should be boss but are waiting for the most opportune moment to seize control.

20 gallon long fish tank turned to its side #2 (random shelf): mixed 'Bots and 'Cons so no one is really in charge but are enjoying refreshments provided by Maketoys Trash Talk.

20 gallon long fish tank turned to its side #2 (top): MMC Feral Rex thinks he's in charge but since he's missing both of his arms, Fansproject M3 and Maketoys Green Giant pay him no mind.

I have many more shelves, though I don't have all night to detail every one :lol

In my glass case - complete g1 84/85
Top shelf - Optimus and his 84 crew from the ark
2nd - reflector in camera mode w/ehobby insecticon clones crawling all over him. Megs and the rest of the cons are on this shelf as well.
3rd - seekers and ehobby tfs behind Rosanna and her friends - the Kronoforms
4th - an assortment of head/power/targetmasters (the little guys) all assembled in an old timey "frontline" formation surrounding rodimus on his battle station.

On each of my shelves, I have that universes incarnation of Optimus and Megatron front and center in the same pose and place, it's a very "War never changes" theme.

    Beast Wars
    - Optimal Optimus
    - TM2 Megatron

    Movie:
    - Buster Optimus
    - MMC Cyclops

Alternators: undecided (have kitbash plans for a Roadbuster and a Soundblaster)

    G1 & G2
    - Rodimus Prime
    - RiD Scourge (it's a G2 mold)

Main Display (consist of MP's, 3P and a few classics)
    - MP-9 Rodimus (with MP Prowl in command of the second shelf)
    - FT Quakewave/Shockwave (with MP-11 Starscream in command of the second shelf and MMC Hexatron of the third)

(Used to have two other groups: One lead by classics Optimus Prime and Armada Megatron, and a final group of scouts and small deluxes lead by Animated Rodimus and RM Reverse Convoy.)
