Computron has always been my favorite. Loved those futuristic vehicles as a kid and still do. Combined mode also looked equally bad ass to me. Love the Combiner wars version (with perfect effect chest and head).

G1 Predaking was and is still my favorite. Not the new one, the original. Why? He just looked like a real threat. Even individually, they looked like "predators".

In the category of official character, it's Devastator. The original and the one from which all other Combiners are derived.

Toy-wise? The entire Combiner Wars line innovated the entire concept with versatility. My favorites are non-official teams I've put together, often using the same figure for multiple limbs, because I like the look.

Computron. I always thought he looked better than the others. And I dig his G1 cartoon origin story.

Bruticus, simply because the team is (mostly) awesome military vehicles and he just feels like a threat as a soldier when combined as opposed to a tool used to destroy large objects like many other combiners.

Defensor IMO, the overall colour scheme and look just work for me.

Second is Bruticus just because his components literally make him look brutal!

Third is Devastator; if he didn't often look like a powerful magnet had drawn in a buncha vehicles, he'd maybe be number two.

For the Decepticons, I'd say Bruticus takes the cake. He's made up of military vehicles, his appearance is "tidier" and he is more stable than Devastator IMHO, and he's loaded with guns as befitting a straight-up weapon of war.

For the Autobots, it's Superion. I'm an aircraft fan, and I love that he's made up of aircraft, and they're (mostly) good guys who can take on the Decepticons in the air. Superion looks awesome to me because of his relative uniformity and how symmetrical his proportions are. This means that his limbs can be rearranged and he still looks pretty decent regardless of the configuration.

Superion was the only combiner that I ever completed in G1, and just so happens to be my favorite combiner of all. :)

Never been a fan of Combiners, as I always preferred the team members over the gestalt.
Still, Predaking was easily my favorite from childhood until now.
G1 Predaking actually looked big and intimidating, and the Predacons were massive compared to most other G1 bots, and absolutely dwarfed Devastator. Loved their bios as well, with Razorclaw and Divebomb being my favorites.
The PotP version brought all those childhood memories back in an excellent update, once again with massive individuals forming a truly imposing Predaking.

Is this strictly toys? If so I would say UT Computron. Because of better molds and better paint. If it's in general, why is this posted in the toy section? And I would G1 Predaking because he always looked the most imposing to me as a child with his spiked knuckle dusters, shoulder cannons and back wings.

Being my favorite, I like how the CW version looks thanks to P.E. chest and head (wish I'd gotten when it was out:oops: ).

HOWEVER as far the BEST... Depends. If Computron has data on the separate components and process it quick enough I think he deal with anyone if he can come with a strategy.

BUT throwing them ALL in to ring and letting them fight it out with NO prep timeo_O o_O o_O ?

    Liokaiser.

Excellent balance of land and air capabilities, well supplied with melee weapons and fire arms, wears a kitty hat, breasts for all.

I honestly will give it to Predaking, the higher amount of skill stat is what tips it in his favor

Favorite combiner? G1 Devastator. The first one. If I hadn't liked him, I might not have cared for all the ones that came after him.

Best Combiner? Bayverse Dragonstorm. It's 12 medieval knight robots that disintegrate into masses of sharp scrapmetal shards that fuse together at a molecular level to reconstitute their form into a freakin' Mecha King Ghidora. What's not to love? :p

My personal favorites are Piranacon, Liokaiser and Devastator.

Devastator will always be my favorite. He was the first, and it took me nearly a tear as a kid to get all his individual components. An experience I’m currently reliving with ROTF Devastator.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I give the nod to Defensor or Devastator as being the most coherent/cohesive.

From a fictional importance standpoint, then it'd have to be Devastator, with maybe Bruticus as a distant second.

If we're talking fictional power/ability, then Predaking and Pirahnacon. Maybe Monstructor if you go by IDW's take (decay aura is pretty OP).

I can't rate by toy at this point. There's too many different versions and interpretations of each at this point, all with different merits and criteria.
