Then you need to get out more. I am not the first and I am sure I am not the last to make that joke. Though, I believe it was generally used when referring to the RiD Bullet Trains, it's just as disturbingly accurate for Classics Astroglide... I mean Astrotrain.

I have fun playing with him. He's alright. I feel Classics/Henkei Astrotrain is a bit more superior, but I do like how you can give Octane a slightly different robot mode, than the one suggested.

I meant it was rude and I didn't think it was appropriate, it was nothing to do with me getting out more.

His plane mode's pretty solid (stubby wings are understandable in this case), and his robot mode is decent (though again, he's got pretty stubby arms here), but I'll agree that his truck mode is pretty weak. When compared to Sunstreaker and Prowl, he's the weakest looking of the bunch, but his engineering is impressive, and his transformation IMO, is pretty difficult, but in a satisfying way.

Honestly, though, I like G1 Blitzwing and Astrotrain because their alt modes are pretty fantastic, and their bot modes are still solid compared with other toys released at the same time. That said, Animated Blitzwing looks to be the slickest triple changer ever.

I can't say I'm disappointed, because that would imply that my initial expectations were higher than the toy delivered. TankOctane's my least favorite of the three first-wave Universe deluxes, but I'm still pretty impressed with the clever design work that went into it. It's more ambitious than Astrotrain at least, which turned from a long stubby thing without wings to a shorter stubby thing with wings. :)

I really like Tankor. It's not a perfect figure, but its modes look good enough and it's really fun changing between them. I think it's better than Astrotrain.

From these three deluxes, it's my second favourite behind Sunstreaker.

Of the half a dozen or so triple changers I have, Octane is far from the worst. Energon Shockblast would probably be the worst overall since his two alt-modes suck. I like Octane better than Classics Astrotrain and T-F-A Blitzwing for sure.

I think Tankor/Octane is fine. I did transform him differently (like the Universe modifications thread on this board) and he looks really good that way.

    You're right; it's completely inappropriate.

Dildos have the look, shape, and overall appearance of a penis.

    Astrotrain looks like a vibrator.

For a deluxe, Octane has an innovative transformation scheme and is very fun to fiddle with. However, I feel his meh-ish face sculpt and low neck clearance put him below Sunstreaker and Prowl. It's kinda sad since I'm more of a Con' fan.

Oh excuse my faux pas, I was incorrectly using the word dildo as a "generic sex toy of a vaguely phallic shape and use" sort of definition.

I apologize for my misuse of the word.

Your little faux pas can be forgiven this time, but don't let it happen again!

I just bought him today and... I wasn't too crazy about him at first.

Then I started playing with him more.

Plane Mode - Just awesome... which is probably why it's packaged in plane mode.

Tanker Mode - Don't like it so much. The big gap at the back is annoying.

Robot Mode - Didn't like it that much... until I started messing with it more and more until I got it the way I like it. Moved those shoulders a different way... and used that extra piece as a shield.

It's basically my "Gundam Style" robot mode. :D

If you look at the original G1 Octane ( Octane (1986) - Decepticon Fueler - www.tfu.info ), this is definitely a huge upgrade.

Looking at how it was made and the transformation, the designer spent a lot of time on it... and if this is as good as it gets for Octane (Tankor), then I'm happy.

Overall, I'm happy to have bought this guy. :D

BTW, the logo on the shield is photoshopped... just wanted to see what it would like before I did it. :D

Personally, I think Octane has a lot of character and two decent vehicle modes, both of which are difficult enough to pull off without adding the triple changing to the mix.

Oh, and it's spelled 'why' not y. Don't be that guy.

Yeah, it is amazing that with all the great technology we have today making great TFs, the "perfect" triple-changer still remains elusive. That said, I like Tankor a lot. His truck mode requires a little imagination, which I actually like. Kind of like G1 Sandstorm: not a "perfect" triple-changer, but has a lot of charm.
