I am trying to wrap up what I really want for 3rd party figures before Hexatron & Fort Max come out next year. Budget is kinda tight, especially given the expense of these figures. I just bought Igear's Ironhide & Brawn which I've been wanting. Here's what's left... Maketoys Giant FP Bruticus FP Ultra Magnus I am kind of worried that preorders for City Commander & Munitioner/Explorer sets are going to sell out. Only one more month til release. Knowing FP, this run won't last long and I don't want to miss them. It's just too bad Takara knows people will pay higher premiums for their counterparts now. 130 for United Bruticus Maximus, and 80 for United Magnus?! Crazy! And the same worry goes for Giant of course. Don't want to miss his production run either. Who do you recommend I focus on first? I am thinking maybe this order...Bruticus, Magnus, Giant. Think they will be easily obtained through retail for a few months longer at least? Over 800 dollars sure is a lot to acquire in a short span of time! And then Hexatron & Fort Max...this hobby is getting hard to keep up with!!!
Go for MT Giant. You can find FP Ultra Magnus around here for around $150 if you're patient enough. And I traded my Bruticus a while back. It's definitely a great figure, but I'm waiting for FP or MT to reimagine him with better individual bot modes.
Brut max with the fansproject upgrades is as close to saturation as hes gonna get. 2 months ago he was selling for 400+ on ebay, now that hes being rereleased i watched an auction end at 180! I would pick up the maketoys before he becomes unavailable and second market prices skyrocket. But thats just my opinion
I'd go for maketoys giant. not only is he the best of the 3 IMO but the other 2 is pretty saturated with a few rerelease already so I don't think prices will go that much higher should u choose to wait to get them.
You really think so? I think if we do get one though it will probably just be a MP10 repaint with once again, no trailer for his armor. And thanks to everyone so far. Think Giant may have to move to the front of the list. Now I'm considering the list going like this...Giant, Bruticus, Magnus.
Brute Max+add ons is your cheapest date right now. $250 vs MT at $355. budget constraints might lead you to FP, but there is no solid gaurantee what will be available.
FP Bruticus and Ultra Magnus would be good to get out of the way while they are new releases available.
Takara went to the trouble of publicizing a rough mock-up of MP-10 with G1 armor and even photoshopped it to blur out details, so yeah, I definitely think so.
Agreed, it's never been confirmed but I recall a member of the Prime Design team suggesting that hints to MP-Ultra Magnus are built into MP-10 if you look for them. I honestly think that the new hip design certainly lends itself better to add-on armor than the skirt flaps MP-01 had. Hmm, hard call. I really don't know what to say... This may sound lame but get the set that you really want first. So that in case you miss out on the other two, at least you already have something that you think you'll enjoy the most. That said, I think there's no need to worry that these are going to sell out very soon. I think these runs involve higher quantities than usual. Also, next year 3P fans will have tons of figures to choose from, and still be on limited budgets, so demand for any one figure or set will not be as high as before.
I have all three and personally I'd go with Green Giant. A great combiner and it's not a mix of Hasbro and Fansproject designs. If the budget is really tight City Commander is going to be your cheapest option and he's still available for pre-order on TFSource for $140.
+1 Giant. Bruticus is cool but the Giant out classes it in pretty much every way, as it should for the price.
I think it's nailed on that he'll be coming as a Magnus (white Prime) with the trailer armour. There is no way that Optimus and Rodimus came with their trailers and Magnus wouldn't be without his.......especially when Magnus's trailer is more integral to the character.
If the budget's tight, while FP Bruticus is a nice add-on, it's still a very marked-up add-on that's starting to feel a little dated next to the full figures 3P companies are putting out. City Commander is likewise very dated and selling for more than it was ever worth the way I see it. At least with Giant you're getting fully new molds that aren't grossly overpriced from the aftermarket yet.
