Brave plz. Only one ive ever had. Its in rough shape unfortunately, but i hope to get back in order eventually.

 

As a character, I prefer Fortress Maximus from Headmasters over Grand Maximus from Masterforce. But since I typically watch the Omni dub of the Japanese G1 trilogy, there is no dilemma: he's just Fortress Maximus in both Headmasters and Masterforce.

As a toy, I like Grand Maximus better. When I first discovered Japanese Transformers, Grand Maximus was the one that stood out the most to me. I managed to get him for $450 back in 2001. It is the holy grail of my collection.

 

I am not able to confirm on the SDCC or Takara Tomy versions of Fortress Maximus but the area that houses the batteries and head has been changed to prevent the wires from being pinched. I had that happen in my Fortress Maximus (was going to install batteries and did not read instructions LOL) So i contacted Hasbro customer support and showed pictures of it and they changed the mold for Grand Maximus so the wires are coiled and there is a plastic circle to hold it in place.

 

Fort Max, he had no real character in either show but in the comics he was great, his fight with Galvatron in G1 was great, I admit I would have liked him better as a city former but he would have gotten to be in so many stories.

Grand sadly had no character at all and I've not seen that fixed by any comic yet either unfortunately.

 

For real! And as a Masterforce fan i find that so weird, because they gave him the Pretender gimmick but did nothing with it really. At least Black Zarak is a crazy murder machine - Grand is just Ginrai's interstellar surfboard.

 

Ya and we missed out on a Toy Shell too that is just sad i really did want one too.

Anyway to answer your question, nowadays I guess I wouldn't say I hate IDW Fortress Maximus its that I just don't know anything about him? Like the only IDW comics I read was whatever comics they packed in with the Thrilling 30 & Combiner Wars deluxes and I don't recall seeing him anywhere in there. And whatever information I know about IDW is just from searching Tfwiki when I'm bored. I guess if there is one thing I do hate about him is the fact that he isn't a Titan like Metroplex or Trypticon, he's just a slightly larger then normal Autobot.

 

Oh he became a titan in a way it was a very breif event and it did redeem him abit, thou saddly it did not last.

 

Well he's a Titan in the CW cartoon. Sorry I didn't realise I was making you answer a 2 year old post. It was late last night and I hadn't noticed the dates of the earlier posts on the thread.

 

Ya i know huh sorry i reignited it. A 3rd version sorta was Brave Maximus in Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001 cartoon) but was not termed titan then. Still he is a good figure thou I would of wised someoengave him some better feet. and legs that would of given him a better Transformation like the G1 style and some storage for the new Cog and a Pretender shell would be nice too.

 

I picked Fort. But Grand showed up out of nowhere without explanation and just got stuff done..lol. Ginrai rode on him. Fortress was more of a field commander and hesitated a lot in headmasters.

 

Fortress Maximus, one of the most underrated TF heroes. Plus the fact that so many individuals make up Fortress Maximus is interesting.

 

Considering that I don't even know who Grand Maximus is, my vote goes to Fortress Maximus. I only really know about him through the old Marvel comics, but he was pretty cool in those.

I will say that Brave Maximus (aka Robots in Disguise Fortress Maximus) has the best color scheme.

 

He is fort max's little brother (?) from masterforce. In the sub anyway. In the star tv dub he is fort max from the headmasters cartoon with a new look.

For two reasons:

1. G1 continuity.
2. I was one of a very lucky and select few kids in '87 to get the action figure (Got him Christmas that year) No one else had him at my school. He still holds a very special place in my heart!
