We've seen heroine characters that are either well made or poorly done in many forms of the media. So who do you think are the best and worst (or at least okay.) In your opinion? This includes the female characters in the Transformers franchise.

    Here's my list.

    Well made heroines.:

Korra: I like how she's both tough yet at the same time shows she's compassionate when it needs to be. She's one of the few female characters to have a good balance of this. Helps that she has great development to boot!

Prime Arcee: Like Korra she has a good balance of being tough and caring and what I like is how she acts and talks like someone from a late night live action show with good development. It gives her a sense of realisim compaired to the other characters in TFP.

Mulan: What I like about her is that she feels more real then the other Disney heroines. While many of the others have stories centered about what they want and wish for her story involves about learning who she is and what she does that defines her and that her quest had to do with trying to help her father. She's a very relatible character and I like that about her.

Twilight Sparkle: She's a pretty cool pony with lots of smarts and caring to boot. Then again nearly all of MLP's characters are like that.

Starfire: One of the most cutest characters on screen as well as the most sweetest and compassionate I've ever seen. She's truly someone you'd love to hang out with because of the fact she's a great friend that does care for people. This was show to be true in that episode where she gets transported to the future and saw how much she meant to her friends.

The heroines in Once upon a Time: I loved how they were made and that each of them got a lot of development not to mention having personaltys that are strong.

    The okay list:

Cheetara from Thundercats 2011: I'm sorry to say but she's not really that developed. Se's not terrible at all but the fact is that we don't know a lot about her. I mean sure we were shown her backstory as a kit but other then that all she did is fight a lot and be a love interest and that's it. What about her flaws, fears, and some hints of anger in her? I wondered why that the rest of the cast got a ton of development and yet she doens't for some reason. Unless I'm missing something that is.

I really don't have any female characters to hate on for now.

    What about you guys?

    I only like Prime Arcee.

She's beautiful, smart, sympathetic, flowing blond hair (errrrr......), and a sister-like figure who's willing to protect her family at all costs.

My kind of woman. Yum yum. :p

    Movies:

    1. Ellen Ripley
    2. Sarah Connor
    3. Teela (seriously, I was surprised how much of a badass she got to be in such an 80's movie)

    TV/Animation:

    1. Wonder Woman
    2. Avatar Korra
    3. Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing
    4. Belldandy
    5. Twilight Sparkle

A simple list, but these guys would be my top choices. This is an overall character thing too; Sarah Connor is choice two even though she's a psychological wreck of a human being and was a ruinous parent.

I don't have a best, because I could probably ramble on, so here's worst
Starfire from Teen Titans (Ditsy, scantily clad airhead with a temper and poor English. I know the comics version was dressed like a stripper, but at least she wasn't a dumb blonde in every sense but hair color...)
Ashoka from Clone Wars (I admit that I haven't watched much of it past season 1. But I was just tired of how she was infallible)
Wasp from Avengers: EMH (This one is just me not liking the character)

Apparently it's still the 70's and everyone is watching Super Friends if they still think Aquaman is useless...

Quick one off the top of my head:

    BEST
Nancy Thompson - A Nightmare on Elm Street part 1 (1984)
    - She was a step ahead of Freddy for most of the movie, failing to save her friends only because no one would listen to her. But when the chips were down, she rigged her whole house full of booby traps, dragged the dream stalker kicking and screaming into the real world, and proceeded to beat the holy living shit out of him. Then she returned for 2 more sequels to mess him over again. She's funny, she's smart, she's not fearless, but she faces her fears and conquers the hell out of them. One of my favorite heroines of all time.

    WORST
Nancy Holbrook - A Nightmare on Elm Street remake (2010)
I was really upset at first, when "Nancy" in the remake of Elm Street turned out to be such a simpering, sniveling joke of heroine. She's a pale shadow of the Nancy from the original series. Instead of taking the initiative at any time, she is instead led around by the nose by all those around her, and only steps up to take charge after everyone else is dead. She is Freddy's rag doll for the whole movie, and never once comes close to rivaling him. I was happy when I found out that they changed the last name of the character for the remake. Someone somewhere knew that they couldn't label this joke of a heroine with the name of Freddy's true rival.

There are some very strange choices in this thread.

    Best:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - no matter the odds or the obstacles, she finds a way to beat them. It does cost her dearly sometimes, and she does make some horrific mistakes, but that's part of her charm. She fights back the supernatural whilst remaining utterly human.

Sarah Connor from the Sarah Connor Chronicles - if she seems like a bitch, that's because the whole of humanity is riding on her shoulders.

Disney's Mulan - kicked stereotypes in the balls, then rode off to save China. If I ever have a daughter, she will love this film. I will see to it.

Katarra from Avatar: TLA - goes from a mewling child to a complete rabblerouser and asskicker supreme by the end of the show. This is how character development should be done.

    Worst:

Prime Arcee - "mai partners r deaaaaaaaaad" does not a character make. She does have sweet ninja moves but beyond that I find her dull. We've had two seasons now and so far very little has changed.

Starbuck in the later seasons of Battlestar Galactica - she went from being a kickass fighter pilot to...well, I don't know what it was but I didn't like it.
