Used different styles of painting them to get varying white levels. These are the last of my weathered stuff. I think I'm going for cleaner looks for Earthrise.
Wow, those look great. I love how you matched or painted the same color for Jetfire joints. Especially the hands, they look stellar. I wish I had that mirage as well. Very good job with the colors but also bringing out finer details that are there, but weren’t painted prior!
Thanks! I'll try to get some pics for yah. Thanks! Thanks, was going with the really heavy weathering on the earlier Siege stuff I got but am slowly going lighter and to just clean repaints when I get to the Earthrise stuff.
THey look great. I'm partial to Mirage since he was the first one I ever got. Rookie question though.... I'm confident in my abilities to give these guys clean paint jobs and detailing, but how does one get this level of weathering; airbrush?
Thanks. For Jetfire and Ratchet I did pre and post shading, plus a little drybrushing. Mirage was just straight up primer, repaint and slight post shading.
Daaayum Ladfallo, back at it again with those spicy siege customs! I seriously dig the differences in white for these fellas, and it makes a lot of sense too! I mean if you think about it, Jetfire transforms into a jet so it make sense for it to be slightly yellowed due to exposure to the sun or atmosphere or something rather (I mean not like cybertron has some sort of sun or I know anything about science so I could be very wrong) And ratchet looking a lot grubbier than the rest as he’s a medic in the front line having to deal with repairs under intense firepower. Absolutely love it
Thanks man. I was really thinking about different conditions they're in. The Jetfire weathering was just coincidental to what you said though, lol. Have no idea about the science around it myself haha
Both were done with an airbrush. Post shading was flat black on the lines and edges then misted over them with with. I kinda played around with with and grey for post shading.
although come to think of it considering jet fire is a jet, he really wouldn’t be made from plastic wouldn’t he? As I think for memory that yellowing only applies if plastic is exposed to the sun, assuming he’s on earth of course, can’t say for sure whether this applies to metal... Im probably looking too deep into this needlessly aren’t I? lmao
Oxidation can cause fading and rust. Rust is kinda yellowish orange and the fading would make the paint less shiny. So I think it makes sense. EDIT: maybe Cybertronian metal has the same consistency as earth plastic and HasTak has been using Cybertronian metal the whole time. This would mean that plastic yellowing is actually a feature instead of an issue...
