I can't stand not being able to get away from the Whirlwind ability!!! Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me? I think it's a noobish way of getting a guaranteed kill. Just roll up... turn on Whirlwind... get free kill, no skill involved.

I tried to jump away, but it hit my leg or something???

 

lets face it . no matter what game is it. theres always going to be something dubbed "noobish". just use it back

 

Well I refuse to go down to their level. I'd rather remain a respectable gamer.

EDIT: I'm referring to people that only use that one ability to get their kills because it's easy to get.

 

Just because someone uses whirlwind doesn't mean they're a noob or a low life. I use whirlwind, infact all 3 of my tank chassis have it. and then a mix of the others. I use it this doesn't make me a noob. Its an easy way of clearing space . and i've also died when using it by being shot

 

Do not confront a Whirlwinding soldier. Get the hell out of there. Drive, dash, fly, whatever you have to do. When he's done, come back and finish him off while he waits for it to recharge.

 

It's not just that they use Whirlwind to get kills it's that they choose to use it every time so they can get a kill instead of honing their skills in other places. If you use it once in a while, no your not a noob... but if it's all you use (most games I'm in, one person only uses the whirl) then it gets old.

Let's get back to the topic... why did they make it so lethal to begin with? Better balance control was needed IMHO. I've tried everything to get away from it. (transforming, tucking tail and running, ect.)

I've even had instances where the person activates it away from me... I see it comming so I transform and head in the opposite direction... they still manage to catch up to me on foot while I'm boosting outa' doge.

 

Whirlwind is put in the game for a reason, it's also exclusive to the soldiers, so no one just uses it all the time, but god damn if it isn't a good move to use, and a bitch to get away from.

There's nothing cheap with it, the game is about "war", it's about victory, not glory. You don't get points for sparing the (temporary) life of a downed enemy.

 

Ouch, didn't know I'm not a respectable gamer just because I use Whirlwind.

Plenty of people have killed me when I use it, they just continue walking back to avoid it unless they're cornered. Then I end up getting shot to death. Other people use the Hover ability so I just look dumb whirling around while they shoot and kill me from above. Or they just simply use it back, and if I'm lower on health, I die first.

 

Another thing I've learned from my short 22 years living on this earth is this separation between gamers.

Bad Gamer: That's cheap, you're only using that one move, stop using it to beat me!

Good Gamer: Hahaha, dumb bastard only uses that one move, wait'll he gets a load'a what I got up my sleeve.

It's like rock-paper-scissors, instead of complaining how the other guy keeps using rock, just exploit it and throw a paper at 'em. It's all about evolution: the weak, uninformed, and ignorant will perish in the dust.

 

You're not doing it right...a scout can EASILY evade whirlwind by backing up and jumping. a scientist can just fly away. and a leader can use disruption to force the soldier to transform..

Not for everybody... just don't expect it from me if it's ALL you use.   Yes I'll use it if I'm attacking a Control Node and there are a bunch of guys there, but come on... using it for every kill? It's an action shooter... so shoot.  

I hope they do something in a patch to fix the difficulty of escaping it. I'd like to have a chance against it.

 

well I agree with you that people who use nothing but whirlwind are pretty sad. but they're usually the easiest ones to kill. because they usually activate it as soon as they see you coming, giving you PLENTY of space to back up

Yes, if an enemy whirlwinds right next to you, its basically impossible to avoid

but hell it's just a video game. it's not like you have limited re-spawns or something

 

I do all of that. Been there done that. It's got a freakin tractor beam.

Give it to the Scientist class and it would make sense.

 

True, and with the Scientists' lower armor/health it would be the perfect balance.

 

Use the Leader's Disruption ability against Whirlwind. Seriously. It's just so effective. Couple it with Flak Armor to easily absorb the tank blasts and then just use your Ion Blaster.

 

i dont understand why whirlwind get so much flack. i think of it as a mobile slow damaging shockwave and is fair game. (this is coming from some one who leveled up all classes to 25 twice and only uses scientists now)
