I've seen fairly equal numbers of the pruple and the black. Which is the rare chase one?

Not 100% sure but i belive the black is supposed to be the variant atm, at first people thought it was the purple cause the first cases released in the states didn't even have any purples, but now the cases have her yet the black is in variant cases. Very confusing hehehe.

Semi-related note. So all the variants in the same case? I've never seen the white Sasquatch, bald Bishop or unmasked Wolverine. Then again I never saw the chase Cyclops or Angel form the Sentinel series either.

I am guessing black is the variant since I can't find the damn thing. I bought purple one because it's hard to find the new wave in my local stores, but I will return it once I find the black one it's the better looking one of the two.

Nobody knows. Before they even hit, it was said the black was the regular and the purple was the variant. I dunno if that was based on anything more than the pic on back of the card. People have reported being able to find the black, but not the purple.
And others have seen what I saw once, a couple of cases worth, no variants, but only purple X-23s, making it look like she might be the regular one.
When I found a case of variants there was one purple, one black (along with 1/1 of all the other variants) making it kind of hard to tell which is supposed to be the variant.

At my comic shop they had both colors X-23 for the same price. Also of note, each color comes with a differently slulpted face. Luckily I have no desire for this character.:thumb

Where do you find the black X-23? I also live in Socal but have no luck finding it.

black is the regular release. purple is the "variant". though it's not really a variant in the tradional sense. they seem to be packed 50/50 now

I picked up a black one at the flea market the other day and it was priced like the regular ones and the purple was $5 more. But that means nothing other than what they all thought to be the variant.

I only saw black at first and now all I see is Purple, assuming I can find her. It seems that since no one knows for sure, people are just buying all of em.

I still need the Variant A.Wolverine, Variant Bishop and Variant Iron Fist (well 2 of each). I have yet to find them. I hope I don't have to plunk down mad cash for them.

As for X-23, the first 2 sets of Series 12 that I found at the same time had the Black X-23. Afterwards I found another 2 sets that had the purple figure. Every now and then I find both figures in equal distribution.
