I'll echo what some have already said: DX9's Carry is a great transformation. MMC's Tarn is also great, simple and rewarding. Official-wise, I believe that Laserbeak is a work of art in terms of transformation. Although not perfect, Ironhide is fantastic: the big bot changes into a small vanette. Ratchet less so, owing to the paint-chipping issue.

I find Grump very enjoyable... getting all those tabs lined up is tricky, but when you get it and it all locks together so solidly, it's so satisfying. He's one of my fiddle-bots... figures I repeatedly get out and tranform simply because I find them fun.

My others in that category are:
    Generation Toy Scrapper
    MMC Impactor
    DX9 Powerglide
    Toyworld Coneheads
    Zeta Aerial-limb-bots
    Unique Toys Swindle
    DX9 Blitzwing
    XTB Cliffjumper/Hubcap
    MMC Frumble and Buzzerbeak
    MMC Sky Lynx
    Maketoys Swerve
    HasTak Ratchet/Ironhide

And on the opposite end of the spectrum... figures I never want to even attempt to transform again:
    XTB Windcharger/Tailgate (those feet)
DNA designs Bludgeon (beautiful figure, but gave up on the transformation as it was an exercise in frustration)
TFC Trinity Force (too many levers and fulcrums that require such precise placing... it took me hours to combine, and I'm never doing it again)
TFC Seawing (So many sharp pieces... I drew blood three times with that thing)

Mmc hellion has a fun transformation and i also like UT Allen.

XTB transformations suck and so do Fanstoys.

Whenever I get asked what is my favourite to transform, I always think of modern figures.

My criteria is that it has be be simple, fast, smart, fun. Also, it has to somewhat match the source material transformation. (Head splitting FT Rouge is a no no).

Among my favourites are NA Flipper, FT Phoenix, Iron Factory Jetfire, most MST legends, Seige Sideswipe, FT Dinobots.

Then after your post, I realized that I based all of my standards for a good transformation on my old G1 Jetfire. Fast. Fun. Intuitive. Feels good. Sequence straight from the Macross Anime.

So, all time fav is G1 Jetfire.

Typically Agree but since Klaatu XTB have been concistently good design wise.

Klaatu is fun, Stunticons are fun, Skids was fun. They have stepped up a notch

I'd say it's clever but I wouldnt call this figure fun

Never enjoyed transforming a figure as much as TE-01

MFT Grimlock I guess I'd say.

I don't TF my figures often enough to know if they're pleasing.

My most fun fiddle bot is MMC Turben. My favorite sot down figure is MMC Carnifex.

Bumping this because I’m hoping to see more answers. I see Carry listed a lot here and here and I’m toying with picking it up to keep on my desk to fiddle with while I work.

Fun? I generally have a good time with almost anything MMC and a lot of DX9's stuff. Unique Toys' Lockdown and Prime are pretty good. Open & Play Springer. Fans Hobby's Double Evil. I adore the legs on TE-01, but the upper body not so much. On the CHUG side I thought Earthrise Prime was pretty great.

Not fun? I'll almost definitely never transform Fans Toys' Galvatron, Cyclonus, or Kickback again, and the anger I felt after transforming Rouge just once lingered for so long I had to sell her. I'm not loving FT's Aerialbots, either.

I want to contribute to this with some unusual takes:
I think TransArt's Skateboard Gorilla might be the funnest overall transformation for a figure I own at the moment. It's fast and simple but the results are really satisfying, going from the technorganic 'bot mode the hilarious blue chromed gorilla.
Other honorable mentions include Maketoys' Meteor which is just a joy, MP Optimus Primal because it's satisfying and simple, and Generation Toy's Gorilla for the same reasons as the other two gorillas.
Yeah, I like gorilla transformers. They're fun!

Dishonorable mentions: Anything I've owned by FansToys, MP-44, MP Dinobot, Gigapower Superator, MP Cheetor, Fanshobby Powerbaser, specifically to Combined mode.

    Pretty straightforward transformation
    Doesn't feel like a chore
Feels really nice, plastic, diecast , heft
