we know that G1 jazz is going to become a car of sorts (esp as its a real type car) and that tantrum will become a bull, but which toy do you feel has the strongest total shift in form from alt to robot mode?? A quick check on shelves and a random pick i'd say from the front at least animated lockdown is pretty heavily shifted from alt mode.

I gotta say ROTF Leader Prime. I have one at work and every time I show someone that he actually turns into a semi, they are astonished.

I only have the 2007 prime but still, theres a lot of shifting in that toy i'll admit, pretty clever.

    In b4 Alternators/Binaltech.

    ROTF Leader Prime's a given I'd say.

Also; MP Prime. Before I got my first one I spent some amount of time staring at the pictures trying to make sense of how the thing could actually turn into a truck.

This is true. This was the toy that got me back into transformers. I saw one a co worker had and was convinced it was just an articulated robot toy that didn't transform.

As far as the main question, ROTF Prime might just be the one. It would almost have to be one of the better executed movie bots.

A lot of Animated figures don't look like what they turn into right away, though some actually have faux-kibble to make them look like they actually turn into something.

Megatron is one. The jet twins are another. And while ROTF Prime doesn't look like he can turn into a truck, he's so obviously a truck with the wheels and windsheild on his chest.

I would put Alts/BTs at teh bottom of the list for "who has the best hidden alternate mode." Most of them have the entire front of the car intact for their upper body.

    Hydra mode for the win!

    Also Sixshot's Wolfjet mode...

    Wait, what's the question?

Ah... Ok. Sixshot. I don't even know what he turns into and I've transformed him into all his modes.

    Ditto for RID Megatron/Galvatron/Deathsauras...

actually theres a bit more flexibility than i originally realised, some toys turn into fantasy alt modes that arent obvious, but what interests me are those alt modes that are recognisable but very well butchered when in robo mode, movie leader prime does come to mind, its very well blasted apart and rearranged and i generally dont like teh movie toys, but 2007 prime is clever and quite simple to transform, pretty ingenious. i guess 'movie' tank>>samurai dude is clever too, name???

ROTF Voyager Megs. Fold his wings back behind him and I really don't see a shred of tank in him except the foot treads. That's kinda cheating, though, since he's just got a Cybertronian alt mode.

For Earth mode alts, ROTF Leader Prime is a good choice. G1 Soundwave doesn't have much in the way of recognizable tape deck kibble...until you find out that big window on his chest holds cassettes :p

I'm thinking that if you took a look at universe 2.0 Cyclonus for the first time, you might not even guess he transformed at all. He is so well designed that he almost looks like a revoltech character more than an actual transformer.

Alternity Questors. If you told someone that robot turns into a car they'd give you a strange look. Those guys look like the normal Seekers in robot-mode, so you'd think they turned into some kind of jet, but no, it's a crazy Giger car! XD

This, he's got to be one of the most kibble-less TFs that I own.

So best hidden robot mode or vehicle mode? Meh, I'll give both.

Vehicle: MP Prime or ROTF Prime. Like, totally.

Robot: Universe Silverbolt and MP Starscream/Thundercracker/Skywarp.

    The robot is pretty good.

But I've disliked the plane on this version because it seems to have been very badly compromised in order to make the robot work. I actually like the G1 version better specifically because I feel like the plane on the new one is such a big mess.

Just my opinion though, and I know a lot of people are really crazy about him (and I do like the bot mode pretty well).

But the way they hid the nose cone is fairly clever. I'll give you that.

Alternity Skywarp is all about teh Secks-ee.
i won't get one, but man i drool over pictures of it and can't believe that's a car-bot.

TFU Powerglide despite his paint apps, hides his robot mode fairly well, imo.

G1 has plenty of figures that for its time hid the bot mode with style. Soundwave, the Seekers, Whirl are a few.

Non-Transformer wise, Man those Gobots Rock Lords had hidden their bot modes perfectly!

i'll agree that alternity seekers are a very good example of a hidden alt mode.

I dunno about you, but everyone I've demonstrated ROTF Mindwipe's transformation to just marvels at how neatly he folds up into a stealth plane.
