MY wife has asked that I only get one of the new repugnus figures, (trying to save money but she knows i want at least one of them). Would you get the undermine repaint or the buzzclaw repaint from the universe line? Let me know what you think and why. Thanks everybody

Well, if you get the Buzzclaw repaint then you have to get Overbite (Hellscream) with him. So if you want to save money, I'd go for the cheaper Cybertron version. Plus, the old Repugnus was a Monsterbot, and the Cyebrtron version is an Autobot. So that one has more of an homage to the original too.

Figure wise: Cybertron is a better figure, but the Universe one comes with Hellscream

Universe, mainly b/c it looks more like the G1 toy's 'alt' mode (such as it was). That and the Undermine mold is a travesty of Beast Machinic proportions.

the BW mold is a nicer one to me, I'd go that way, not to mention he comes with the Hellscream repaint.

Buzzclaw repaint for a couple reasons:
    • Very good yet underrated BW figure.
    • You get a repaint of a Japanese figure that wasn't released in the US
    • Overbite is a retooled Cybershark
    • Store exclusive (Target)
    • Wait six months and get the Cybertron version on clearance.

Indeed. I'm gonna have to go with the Universe one as well. Buzzclaw's an awesome little toy. And his Repugnus repaint looks better than any of the others, except maybe the Botcon Buzzclaw *has a thing for clear purple plastic*

I'd go with the Universe one because Beast Wars Buzzsaw has a lot more play value than Cybertron Undermine. His gimic is also alot better.

This should be a poll, huh?

I'd go with Universe as well. Buzzclaw was one of the best BW basics and, to me, Undermine is completely Underwhelming.

The U. version is a better homage to the G1 mode, and although the box is just "Decepticon" I thought I heard somewhere that U.Repugnus is an Autobot by the instructions. He's also got much better poseability(ball joints instead of hinge joints as well as a waist pivot!) I also think his claw gimmick is better than Undermine's key-activated knife-blade-to-the-back-of-my-own-neck.

Perhaps this last bit sounds a bit backwards, but I'd prefer to have the 5 Buzzclaw repaints forming a little army than just the 2 Undermine repaints paired up. 2 decos is nothing special, but 5 decos(of a small toy) is cool!

Working on it, working on it! Already have two Buzzclaws, Timelines Buzzclaw and Dirge, a "battle-damaged" Dirge junker, and a pair of Virulent Clones. Just gotta get this set, fix the stupid mandibles on Repugnus like I did the others, and I'm good to go!

I'm a fan of both original modes, but I'm sorry Undermine, I could probably never justify an $80+ for repaints of you. (Unlike Rumble02 here, of course, I'm definitely getting both C and U Repugnus.) Buzzclaw is a superior mold to Undermine, a great BW figure in general, and far too often overlooked. He was also my third Transformer, so I have a lot of sentiment attached to him. Go for the Universe set and enjoy!

This was pretty much verbatim what I was going to say.

Undermine is a pretty underrated toy, but Buzzclaw is better.

Plus Overbite/ Hellscream just looks too cool to pass up!

Don't buy either and get your wife some flowers and a card instead for being so understanding of your hobby.

    Failing that, the Undermine repaint.

Universe why because 1) Cybertron undermine has BAD GRH syndrome (gay robot head) and 2 even if he was cooler (wich he isn't) the Hellscream mold rocks, I couldn't stop playing with that thing, I was afraid I'd where the joints out and I got mine MISP. so if it's only a mtter of $15 opr so price wise call it a good investment to get what in my opinion is the coolest of 4 japanese retools and one of the coolest BW basics repainted as a very bad 'bot
